Paul Simpson (Simmo)

Everytime i see Simmo i always think he has been going for years.
I remember him when i was a kid at GP in 1972
He used to be with his brother back in time iirc and its sad to think that this is his last game and what a last game it was .

This will be all of us one day.
I never got the chance to say anything sadly.

Thank you, I have seen him so often at games, home and away and send him all my prayers and best wishes.
Yep, likewise - someone I have seen regularly at games since I started going in the 1970s without ever knowing or even speaking to.

I will miss you sir!!!

Paul Simpson (Simmo)

As many on here known simmo for years had the pleasure of a season ticket near him in the paddock for years and would always see him at away games
Would ask how you doing and the reply was always "the grim reaper ain't got me yet" in his dry sense of humour way
Absolute legend

This may (or not) have been embellished over the years but legend has it, Simmo chested down and volleyed back a bottle thown at him.
Preston away, when were being walked back to the station.

PNE fans were blocking the road ahead of us and we came under a barrage of flying bottles, one of which was indeed chested down by Simmo and kicked back into their lines

I also new Simmo from the 70s and had many a chat, also many years later after I moved to Plymouth I met him at home park and he mentioned he had relations in Plymouth. The word Legend is used and is totally correct for Paul. So glad the club managed to arrange this for him and the family. Thoughts are with the family at the sad time. x

Every single time I saw him, he'd happily have a chat. Ever since the mid 90's when I first met him. Often it was as I was marching past him. Always had a dry quip, never failed to smile no matter the circumstances. He talked to anyone who was Brentford. If you managed to actually chat to him, he had stories, he had history to tell you, he had plenty to teach me about the club and its history, and he always looked on the bright side of the team.

If you didn't know him, you've missed out. He's so well respected by those who have met him for good reason. He barely missed a game and is just a truly lovely fella.

So sad to hear he's knocking on the door. I can only imagine he's got some ridiculously optimistic thing to say about it all. Bless him and his family.

Stood next to Paul on the Paddock back in the 80s and 90s - proper legend.

He was sat behind me at The O2 a few years ago when we saw U2 and chuckled when I said c'mon you Bees! Not sure what the chances were of that. Often used to see him in the cafe before a game off the High Street too.

What a kind gesture by the Paramedics to help him out at the Chelsea game.
