Today was a strange one for Damsinho. Some shiny moments, some very dull, but then the rest of the team had a similar outing...

I was under the impression he was brought on to do the Jensen role... not the playmaker but high pressing because they were getting the ball forward and through us so easily. He did that well.

Tried to find the killer ball too quickly on more than one occasion today. We are a much better side when Damsgaard is on form so I hope he finds it quickly.

From experience he seems to take a bit of time to warm up each season. When he hits his rhythm it’s a different conversation.

We are feeling it more acutely right now because Jensen is out but pretty relaxed he will get into gear.

Players like him need to keep on trying difficult things so mistakes are a consequence. The alternative is hopeful balls in channels or sideways and backwards like Henderson.

Yep, and it would have been easy for MD to not be so "brave", and have given up on trying to make things happen.
That he didn't is testament to the trust that he, and the whole team have about what we're trying to do. Doesn't always come off, but when it does......

Yes, think there were some fitness issues at the start of the season but all seems good now.

When the game becomes stretched his passing ability is so dangerous for our opponents. He can be deadly in the last third of games.

Back to his best after a recent dip in form. We are so much a better side with him receiving the ball on the half turn with space and runners in behind.

I've been trying to think what changed in the game from the 20/25th minute...and I think I've got it now. We dropped deeper. We managed to pull them further onto us, and their midfield was not capable of coming with. So Dams dropped deep, was huge on winning balls or taking the first pass outside our area, and springing the counter. IF we can get our wide forwards more involved closer to IT, we can create and score many, many goals this season.

He's just so good at what he does, we just need to provide him with that opportunity more often.

Been ages since we scored a “classic” free kick goal. Jensen and Toney had a couple of cheeky efforts…and if AI is to be believed the previous 3 direct free kick goals were as far back as Marcondes in 2020, Benrahma in 2018, and Pritchard in 2014/15.
If AI hasn’t ballsed up as usual that’s a pretty tiny volume of direct free kick goals!

It’s definitely forgotten a few. Off the top of my head, I can recall Mbeumo at Cardiff, Barbet against Leeds, Jensen home vs Bournemouth, Judge multiple times inc at Arsenal. But aside from hitting the bar against Sunderland iirc, KLP’s have been very disappointing. I certainly wouldn’t mind if Dams was given the next few, cracking strike tonight
