I thought Everton away last year was one of the better performances and Bournemouth before that was good.

Even though we lost it I thought the 2024-25 performance against Liverpool was very good; as were Liverpool.

They were sh*t but the way we tore Southampton apart away 0-5 was clinical.
Everton away 2-4 was special
Aston Villa 0-1 winning away at a “big” club with 10 men
Newcastle 2-3 was in our purple patch last season.

All the ones you mention are up there but this was the best.

That City team was the best team globally and by some distance. This was their only home defeat in any competition that season and it was deserved. We dominated on xG and Ivan should have had a hat trick.

In terms of total performance this was in my view the best followed by Liverpool and Arsenal at home last season where we dominated them both.

To completely dominate an expensively assembled big name with a good coach and be able to afford the luxury of squandering a penalty: this is probably our most impressive PL performance. Spurs might well go on to have a good season, you know!

I totally agree.
From minute one to ninety five (five-minute total in match injury time) Brentford's closing down, and total domination was too much for a disjointed opposition.

We really have been spoilt with some great wins/performances in the last few years and yesterday was definitely another to add to the pile.

Arsenal at home last season was up there as well.

I would put yesterday in the top 5 but not above City away or Utd 4-0. The Arsenal home games 2-0 and 1-1 would also be in my top 5.

Chelsea away 4-1 we ripped them apart that day so that is the best performance in my eyes.
Liverpool 3-1.
United 4-0.
Saints away 5-0.
United 1-1,4-3 were all great 10/10 performances.
Spurs away 3-1.
Any win against Newcastle.

And yesterday is up there.

I think the first PL game beating Arse, is the statement performance any non-Bee might still remember. A sort of “We’re finally here, and whatcha gonna do about it?”

Regularly beating Chelski just can’t compare, whatever the performance. For example, Friday’s result will still be considered a surprise to many. They will not be aware that we’ve beaten them more times in the PL, than Chelski have beaten us.

We have started winning these derby games and beating teams on their patch which makes the result so frigging good.
Beating Chelsea at home for the first time since 1938 has to be special.
Just like beating Spurs the other week.
I want to see a win at Arsenal.
I dont care how we do it i just want to walk away from their gaff with a win.

I seem to recall after man city game according to their fans the only reason we won was because so many of their players were concentrating on the world cup finals.

Pep was more complimentary. IIRC he said playing us was like going to the dentists without anaesthetic.

The next summer I was wearing a Bees shirt at Glasto and a City fan spotting it came up to me and bought me a drink and said how excellent a club we were.

I think the victory at the Etihad is definitely the best result, but I think time is making some memories look better than they were. It was a very tough game, and we defended brilliantly. Definitely was the pinnacle of the low block tactics of Thomas Frank.
But for best performance, I'd rather have games where we actually battered the opposition.

It's also a question of context in our progress and the resulting expectation. For example, using some of my favourite memories, no-one expected us to beat Arsenal at home in our first PL game, so the performance on that day was spectacular. As we settled into the PL, no one expected us to beat City at the Etihad, so a new benchmark was set with the performance and result. Villa (A) with 10 men, followed by Newcastle (A) last season showed progress from the one-off game performances. Chelsea (H) created a fabulous headline to carry us through the international break but the most impressive thing was not conceding to a free-scoring side.
