The Fulham fan I get, he's just bitter little child.

The Palace fan though, I don't get what his problem is. They've got a massive amount of credit over the last few years and I think most fans have been genuinly impressed by them winning some trophies, although bragging about the Charity Shield is pure cringe.

Complete pair of wetwipes who can't handle clubs other than their own getting some positive press.

While these tears are delicious, over recent seasons there’s something about the way that the PL is being covered where there has to be some sort of narrative or major conclusion drawn based on very recent events or a handful of games, at almost every stage. I think at this stage last year they were already talking about Bournemouth being in the Champions League.

Us and Brighton do have previous for turning over big teams but it feels like a story this week because of the way the results of game week 5 lined up. But such is the need to generate engagement and views, mid season end of season conclusions aren’t enough

That guys meltdown about on social media is pretty tragic, so anyway back to laughing at that

Spot on. The news cycle is so fast these days where big stories which used to run for a week might manage a couple of days at best. This inevitably leads to lower quality content being pushed out to fulfill that desire of consumers (who can consume every waking second with the proliferation of social media) for more and more and more.

The reason we are punching above our weight is down to our ownership with Matthew Benham and his ability to recruit incredible talent to assist him and then playing the long game and not looking for short-term results. By any normal metric, we should be nowhere near the Premier League. Our revenues are unlikely to get anywhere near those of many of the so-called big clubs, and hence, if all things were equal, we would not be able to survive. Fortunately, all things are not equal, and many of those clubs are run by a bunch of Muppets that have no understanding of the game or building an organisation with a long-term view. As long as we keep our ownership and as long as those clubs remain trinkets owned by billionaires, our current trajectory remains sustainable

Agree with all of this.

I also think that it helps that as a fan base we buy in entirely into what MB and PG are doing (for these purposes I’m ignoring the small group of cretins on X) and we are content to build our success incrementally.

Phil Giles has often said that the target each season is to keep on improving. There is no reason to think we won’t keep doing that in the short to medium term which means that European qualification and trophies become much more likely.

Agree, it is never mentioned by the media but we are where we are after approx 14 years. It has been a building process, season after season, sometimes taking 1 step back to go 2 steps forward. Even Arsenal under Arteta it took 6 or 7 years to win the PL. These things take time, it does not happen overnight. Many of the bigger clubs who are underperforming like Spurs, MU, Newcastle, Chelsea etc etc are either not willing, or are incapable, of investing the time that is required to get them back up the ladder. The so called solution is to spend big and sack the manager when it doesnt work out, the way they are set up, and their supporters will not allow a longer term approach. Easy to spend millions on buying players (whether they are suitable or not), a lot harder to change the culture of the club from top to bottom.

...I don't go on other clubs supporters forums...but if I did... I'm fairly certain the GPG would mirror Brightons equivalent...KA talks about us bringing chaos... I'd argue that that's both on and off the pitch where BFC and BHAFC are concerned... especially this season with so many other clubs in the EPL in transition or in turmoil....I guess only really MB and TB know whether this is the right time to capitalise on this...stick or twist.... guess we'll find out....and regardless...both clubs ships are steady as they go.

It's about organisation and management style rather than size of stadium.

I'm reminded (someone will know the quote) that MB once said he was focused on 5 years ahead and the decisions to be made while others were responsible for the shorter-term operational decisions.

I think he's forgotten the pasting they took at 'The Bridge of Sighs', even after we gave them a Rudiger goal headstart - and we haven't come back into the PL, we've never left it

White guy " we as fans deserve to expect the best from Chelsea" "Brentford is a club that is no bigger than my ring......"

Not going to comment on the size of his ring, but he too has also forgotten that same pasting, so to only lose 3-0 is probably 'the best from Chelsea' (better than 1-4 at home) - and didn't we win another match there as well?

At one point in time, we'd won more matches at Stamford Bridge than the current Chelsea manager and his two predecessors combined.

I was down by Brentford Library yesterday, talking to the tree surgeons why they had cut the trees down?
They noticed my Bees shirt, they said that they were Chelsea supporters.
Both were unhappy with Chelsea's recruiting and quality of new players.
Said that Brentford deserved the win, and the Bees recruitment model works with them not paying OTT transfer fees. 🐝

We've won there three times out of five so far. I think we could be on for a fourth this season.

The size of stadium is much less important then previously because gate receipts are now a much smaller part of a clubs overall income. TV money is king and commercial income not so far behind.

But a big stadium full of fans is highly visible and impresses supporters of "big" clubs more than it deserves to. Most of them are simply ignorant of football economics.

Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End are still regarded as 'big clubs' in any conversation with supporters of those mediocre clubs offended by the 3 B's!

Is that true? Clubs with big stadiums, like spurs, can generate more from their stadium than from tv revenue. The two combined make a big difference when it comes to PSR. Otherwise why would so many PL clubs be investing in their stadiums? The question is will adding 10k seats and a few extra boxes to the gtech make a meaningful difference once you’ve accounted for build costs. I imagine not.
