Manchester City Found Guilty Of FFP Breaches

Worth a tenner at 14-1 right now to be relegated?

Good this will hopefully be he end of Man City being a dominant force as the Abu Dhabi group will have to go, Mansour will have to go and £100m transfers will also go.

Back in our second division days, Luton got deducted 30pts due to financial issues (not as extreme as this City's case) and ultimately relegated.
These 115 issues are historical and City should be hit hard with the appropriate punishments. The club should be made an example of with a warning to others!

I hope they get absolutely whalloped but watch the massive penalty be "suspended for x years"
They will probably get a 20 million fine and 20 point deduction, then on appeal 5 million fine and 4 point deduction....

Is there any chance Forest get relegated here?
Marinakis acts like the thug he is and intimidates everyone with any power at MCFC into agreeing to be merged into NFFC as a desperate last resort to avoid punishment, at which point the PL release a statement saying "We were looking for an excuse to get rid of those deluded Notts Forest c*nts anyway, so the punishments we were going to hand to MCFC will be transferred to NFFC."?

I have absolutely zero belief that they'll get more than a slap on the wrist, with FA ultimately 'excusing' themselves by claiming that the time it took them to get their collective fingers out is a mitigating factor

An immediate 50 point penalty imo and no retrospective punishment or titles taken away

There's a point to be made for City paying reparations to clubs who failed to qualify for Europe during their time, and maybe even to relegated teams...after Everton were forced to pay Burnley £40m.

Unfortunately, we wouldn't have qualified for Europe in the seasons in question.

I reckon no retroactive action will be taken, and they'll get a large fine and a points deduction. Maybe even 100pts, but then that will be reduced to 10 on appeal...

Need enough points deducted to at this stage of the season make them fearful of relegation plus 50m to be distributed amongst the non league football structure.

A few millions there and maybe a ban for one or two transfer windows. Nothing else.

If it was a tiny pot resources poor club then …oh boy!!!! they’d go straight to conference as a lenient measure

Manchester City Found Guilty Of FFP Breaches

12 point deduction for next season reduced to four on appeal with an abject apology for their treatment from the Premier League

I trust Phil Giles has offered to revive Erling Haaland's Premier League career at Brentford.
:hat:

If Luton's 30 point deduction is the benchmark then relegation and a 30 point deduction should be the minimum, increased to a 60 point deduction if they appeal.

Not quite... 20 of the points was for breaking the rules governing exiting administration, and 10 points for irregularities surrounding player transfers

A brief aside, Luton’s 30 points was through 2 different charges. The FA charge in relation to iffy payments to agents lead to a 10 point deduction. The failure to agree a CVA was an EFL charge leading to a 20 point deduction.

In any event, what Man City did seems significantly more serious than anything any club has ever been charged with. Relegation or a points deduction that assures relegation should be the only way this ends.

City have won the league 8 times in the last 20 years. I think that a relegation per championship is probably a fair punishment.
The charges relate to 2009 to 2018 so 3 times premier lesgue, 3 league cups and 1 fa cup.
114 points deduction and £114m fine would suit plus all their wins are given to runners up 😂

I read the charges cover the seasons from ‘09/10 through to ‘22/‘23, during which they won the PL 7 times. If reallocated then ManU and Liverpool get 3 each and Arsenal get 1.

I do hope they are found guilty after their appeal. Kicked out of the Premier League.
I wonder how this will effect the crowd size ? Lets see how the plastic supporters handle this. Of course they think their innocent. Good luck with that.
Time will tell.

When do we get our entry into the conference league? Group stages? Or are we straight through to the knockouts?

What's a bit annoying from the BFC point of view is costs.
Copied from the BBC...

""This specific case was six years in the making, so legal fees on both sides were estimated at tens of millions of pounds before the hearing even started.

Whichever side 'wins' can be expected to make a claim for costs.

For context, the Premier League wanted Everton to pay the full £4.9m legal costs of their first PSR six-point deduction case.

However, an appeal board ruled Everton should pay £1.7m and the Premier League cover the remaining £3.2m legal fees.

Any costs being paid by the Premier League at the end of the City case would have to be spread across the 20 clubs which make up the league."""

So, after the inevitable appeal, if the PL don't get full costs, I'd guess all the rest of the league will have a quite noticeable donation to make.

Brentford and clubs in a similar position to us are reported to have complained quite alot about how much money has been spent on is when it has little impact on us. Especially given how we can use our share of the millions already gone on this much better than most clubs

They won't get kicked out of the PL as the season has already started

I don't think anything will be retrospective
