FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

Only one change from my suspected line-up is Teale for Sangha. You can read about the players here:
For those new to the team this year, I've put together a short piece on what I expect the line-up to be for Sunday, to help you spot a few players. As a caveat, we have such a rich of talent this year, Carly Williams (the coach), has a hard time trying to fit everyone in. I've put together a line-up, but it does change week-in-week-out, so as a caveat, this might be a million miles off.

We've been playing three at the back, but have changed it around quite a bit. Makeba Black & Lucy Potter seem to almost be ever-present, but they have been joined by a cavaclade of different personal making up the trio. I suspect Rhian Cleverley to be in the starting line-up this Sunday.

Maddie Phillips has been sitting just in front of them, as a defensive midfielder, while the more attacking midfield sit in front of her. Katie Gilligan has been our most frequent central-midfielder with Asees Sangha and Millie Constatine likely to be on the wings. Bit of doubt about Asees fitness, as she's just coming back from a long-term injury, so Ilana Harris-Waters might fill in there.

Up front we have Fan Favourite Ashley Cheatley and our quiet assassin Wiktoria Kiszkis. With Abbi Smith sitting in just behind. Although the front line are so dynamic, they often swap and change postions quite freely.

Forwards
Ashley Cheatley, Wiktoria Kiszkis & Abbi Smith

We all know about Ashley and what she can do, previous fans player of the season and FIFA Marta nominee. Wiktoria & Abbi joined us at the end of last season and have both fitted in really well. Wiktoria has been banging in goals for fun and is joint league goal scorer for Bees, alongside Ashley. Abbi reads the game really well and is intergral in our build up play.

Wing
Asees Sangha & Mille Constatine

Asees is just coming back from injury, so might not feature but is a firm fam favourites with us regulars. Is still so young and a product of our youth set-up, but has a wise head on those young shoulders. Has the ability to put in a mazy dribble pass standing defenders. Millie is new this season, and I think was missing injured for the opening weeks of the season. Is just now hitting her stride. Has put in some mega performances in the last few weeks, and am excited about seeing more of her. Knows how to put in a wicked cross.

Central Midfield
Katie Gilligan & Maddie Phillips

View attachment 69337View attachment 69338
Katie joined us the end of last season from Lewes and has a very smart footballing brain. Reads the game so well, not the showy stuff, but the control in the middle of the park, the unseen work that sees us move through our transitions of play. Turning into my personal favourite player this season. Maddie is another fans favourite, shows her heart on her sleeve and is Brentford through and through, has heritage with her great-uncle Bees legend Tommy Higginson. Will take our penalties and free-kicks, even though she's in a defensive role, she has the ability to strike from distance and unlock tough defences.

Defence
Lucy Potter, Rhian Cleverley & Makeba Black

Lucy has been with us for a couple seasons now, starting as an attacking winger before morphing into a stalwart of our defence. Won the GPG Player of the Season vote last year, knows how to drive forward and can put in a wicked cross. Rhian joined us over the summer from Rugby, a former Wales international who brings vast knowledge and was made Bees captain this season. You'll hear her across the pitch, you'll know she's the captain! Makeba is another wise head on young shoulders. Really impressed since stepping up from the B-Team last season and very cool under pressure.

Goalkeepers
Saskia Reeves-Priestley or Mya Francis-Pownall

View attachment 69343View attachment 69344
Saskia is our #1, but has had injury concerns this season and is still feeling her way back into the game. I understand she has been on limited playing time, so don't be surprised if we make a sub halfway through the game and bring on Mya. Both are talented and have slightly different skill sets, Saskia distribution and ability to sweep behind the defence are oustanding.

Subs
Its difficult to fit everyone in the side, so could see many of these featuring in the line-up to. Might just depend on availability and how Carly sees the Newhaven setup.

Forwards
Chelsie Berry, Ilana Harris-Walters & Renai McCrea
View attachment 69345View attachment 69346View attachment 69347
Chelsie wears her heart on the sleeve and is not afraid to getting stuck in. Able to dribble and cross, can be a real handful on her day. Ilana & Renai have both been regularly used as subs to try something different if the defence is proving tricky. Both can drive forward with the ball and get into the penalty box. All three can count themselves unlucky not to get into my starting line-up. Could easily find all three starting instead of Asees, Abbi or Millie.

Midfield
Freya Worsley, Georgie Giddings & Ellie Thomas-Leek
View attachment 69348View attachment 69349View attachment 69350
Freya is our longest serving player and a fans favourite. Has been utilised in recent games as a sub to sure up the game and harden the midfield in the closing moments, she has an excellent footballing brain. Georgie has been used in the defensive midfield role that I have Maddie Phillips in. If Maddie is needed elsewhere, expect Georgie to slot into that role. We haven't seen a lot of Ellie yet, looks an exciting prospect, but not had her chance to secure a foothold in the side.

Defence
Mai Louvrier, Becca Teale & Imogen Cochrane
View attachment 69351View attachment 69352View attachment 69353
Mai last season played as a midfielder, but has been utilised as defender this year. Has the ability to play anywhere, good allrounder. Of all the players from the "subs" I've listed, the most likely to start is Becca Teale. Has been a revelation this season and extremely talented, but how do you fit everybody in though? Bit like Lucy Potter, has the ability to bring the ball forward and can whip in a mean cross. Imogen has only featured a few times and looks a real prospect, a bit like Ellie Thomas-Leek, hasn't had a prolonged spell in the side to show her worth, but sure she will.

This is all just my opinion, and when the line-up is shown at 2pm on Sunday this might all be proved to be tosh. But I hope it gives some of the newbies a chance to put a few names to faces and recognise these talented players on the pitch.

Abbi Smith should have made it 3. Open goal and her header is wide.

FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

I'm sat in line and their no6 didn't push up enough so was fine

FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

Good save from the Newhaven keeper.

FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

An even better save from the Newhaven keeper.

I was going to say that Makeba Black looks Pinnockesque, but that goal was from the Kris Ajer book.

FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

You could argue that their keeper as been their best player so far.

Everytime we’ve played Newhaven she has been excellent. Really good shop stopper, crosses were her weaknesses on previous shows.

HT: Barking 1-1 Bromley, between second and third.
That will be an ideal result for us.

FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

Looks like Asees Sangha is coming on at HT. if you are new to the side, she’s a real talent!

Millie Constantine is off.

FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

We've been a bit sloppy at the start of the second half.

FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

Strange as it sounds, we needed that as we had started the second half poorly.

FT: Brentford 8 - 0 Newhaven

Enjoying the stream, but man it is annoying that they switch to the low camera when the bees are attacking......thereis a reason Sky dont do this!

Without wanting to sound like a misery, it might have been better to select a more competitive game for the G-Tech.
I suppose dates are limited.

Brentford's attacking play today is sublime, the individual runs, the lay off, tge speed, the multiple options.

Defensively qe are ok but could be better... as I type Newhaven just inter opted a ball we played across the back and should have scored

Based on the admittedly early table it should have been closer than it is. Quite surprised Newhaven are not putting up a bit more fight.

Newhaven are 5th so was expecting them to be a bit better tbh

So was I

They have conceded more goals so far today than they have all season and have four clean sheets on the road... Maybe we are just exceptionally good today
