Manchester City Found Guilty Of FFP Breaches

He actually thinks that he has been found guilty in a biased court and that an "independent" body will find them non-guilty just like last time. The only reason they got away with the UEFA case was the "statute of limitations" in that the case was filed too late.

From a quick glance at Blue Moon, even their fans (the proper oldschoolers at least) seems less than impressed in an "... this is the best you can come up with? ... we're FUBARed" kind of way

There was clearly a cut between shots at 1:57, during which time there could have been some blinking. And he did blink at 2:58.
...forensic.... but try not to be an apologist... he's either a rabbit or a psychopath... from my experience.

8,400 pages. Good effort!

You may have changed your mind with the latest statement release but the sporting sanction offences do seem to boil down to 9 lots of severe FFP breaking with non-cooperation.

Just to add that following the Everton precedent, there'd be a yearly double jeopardy reduction, which was 1 point in their case
If anything I think things look worse with the statement, not sure what you think looks better? If I'm understanding "you may have changed your mind".

You're right about the overlapping periods being taken into account in principle but if they exceeded the pro-rata annual limit in every year I'm not sure they'd get a discount just because the rules work on a rolling three year basis. If they kept over spending and disguising it, they would have kept breaching the rules each time. Not to mention the breaches here are massive.

Why don't the other 19 prem clubs refuse to play them?
...as things stand... wouldn't that be breach of contract...oh the irony...but I guess Arsenal would be first in line.

Maybe it’s because it’s late and I’m unwell, but I could swear that the gist of the ‘irrefutable evidence’ is that they said they didn’t do it.
Someone correct me if there was more to it than that…

Sham. Pain. Tranmere Rovers (a)

In that order

If I've got this right it seems that all this only came to light after a Portuguese hacker got into citys accounts and released the documents to Der spiegel . This suggests that all of the shams etc would have carried on undetected. I hope the powers that be are looking into this.

...the EPL will never be held accountable for anything.. until they are.... the bastions of due diligence...yeh right you are... complicit and guilty as charged.... they should have had safeguards in place to prevent their business from being compromised.

When will the punishment be dished out???

.... what would be the best outcome for BFC regarding this matter... maybe that's the question.
Not sure any of it is good for us. We'll have to pick up some of the tab for the PL lawyers. This will surely effect future transfer sale fees are city were one of the clubs who would pay £100m for Igor etc. I imagine it'll also effect the next overseas TV rights deal

I think it starts immediately, sponsors fading into the shadows, fans giving up season tickets, tourists not wanting to visit the Etihad anymore, far east fans turning their backs, little Johnny no longer wanting a Citeh shirt with Haaland on the back....
Then comes the big hits

City need the book throwing at them.................. But what depresses me is how Arsenal will be rubbing their hands together over this.

I’m no legal expert but City have been found guilty. They will obviously drag this appeal process on for as long as possible damaging the entire league.
Why can’t they be immediately expelled from the PL pending the result of the appeal. Effectively putting the club on ice.
They will either choose not to pursue an appeal and accept their guilt or they will make the process as speedy as possible.

Mate, you already know the path that they have chosen to follow.

I'm not sure you can hand out a punishment before the appeals process is complete. There may come a time where there is an urgency.
Amongst the punishments available, mid-season expulsion will probably not suit the PL or the other clubs, because there's a TV deal based on 10 games every weekend and they'll probably have to hand back a lot of money if there are suddenly only 9 games.

I'll be honest I am absolutely loving this circus. Making the Int Break much more interesting. City are going to get dog's abuse rest of the season now.

Inject this into my veins

So, are Abu Dhabi United Group (City's owners) still fit and proper owners then?
Isn’t presenting income and expenditure accounts that are knowingly false a criminal offence?
Could there be HMRC involvement in tax evasion also?

The timing of the announcement doesn't seem like a coincidence does it.

This guy is completely deluded.

"The PL's case is a single false accusation". No mate there's 114 of them

"irrefutable evidence has been put forward to the PL commission.". No mate, it's can't be "irrefutable evidence" as it's be refuted.

"it's a conspiracy therory" - No mate, did you not read the emails?

He then threatens to sue everyone.

This guy is an utter moran.

When you start digging a hole just remember to dig to a point where you can get out.
Does he realise that simple rule really does matter ?

They have no shame in this which makes them an unbelievable organisation.

Until this reaches a final resolution, it is going to hand like a cloud over the league in general, but yes does seem like a play to get the initial shock and awe out of the way

Why not? Everton were immediately docked 10 points. They appealed and it was reduced to 6.

Well there's a verdict and then a punishment, and each has an appeal window. So far we only have the verdict.

Everton did get a verdict and a punishment announced together in a far simpler case, that is true.

Moreover I was replying to the suggestion of "immediate expulsion from the PL" which is not something you could reverse or water down if the appeal was successful.

I get that......

I have extended family members who are life long City fans. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment here. They are victims in all of this too. They celebrated the "glory" years in good faith and now unsurprisingly feel angry, cheated, betrayed, lied to, embarrassed, shamed and have spent large sums of time and money following their team.
This mess has wide reaching implications some obvious some not so.
Not looking for or expecting sympathy here but just another consideration.

No sympathy
And if their fans are happy with the video put out by City yesterday

Even less sympathy

So what happens if Man C win the PL in May....
While the punishment is still not resolved ?

I have some sympathy. The fans suffer, and many of them will be embarrassed and annoyed at this point rather than saluting the owner's nonsense statements.

But the fans always suffer when there are bad owners. Look at Sheffield Wednesday, Bury, Derby or a dozen others where fans have paid the price for owners that cheat, are dodgy or just plain useless. At least City fans got a lot of joy out of getting to this point.

These charges relate up to the end of season 22/23 assuming they have been operating the same way over the last 3 years will they be charged again after this has ended?

Jeez... Yeah I hadn't even thought of the civil implications. What about clubs who dropped six points to city in a season during the crime period and were relegated by a less than 6 point margin. I bet they may have something to say legally.

That would be the infamous Survival Sunday of the 2010/11 season. Going into the last game there were 5 teams from 15th to 19th that were separated by a point. West Ham were already relegated in 20th.

This is how it finished
1000035391.jpg

Blackpool lost home and away to City (0 points)

Birmingham drew both games with City (2 points)

Wolves won their home game against City (3 points)

I say reinstate Blackpool to the PL, City take their place in League 1. But Blackpool have to have Holloway as their manager and Ian Evatt (their current manager) has to be part of the playing squad as he was in 2010/11.

It appears that both the PL and City had the judgement back in July, so have had a couple of months to digest and come up with statements etc. it’s clear that the PL are very confident in their position. I’m not convinced the appeal process will take that long. City have a limited amount of wiggle room: they can’t introduce new evidence and unless they are sitting on something to discredit the panel and/or process then the appeal decision is fairly black or white.
There’s been mention by some that City will then take it the the High Court if they lose the appeal, but will they really? Given the implications of submitting false accounts, are they really going to surrender these for forensic review?

There is a possibility that officials at the club will be charged with fraud and associated offences as well.

But as you say the stench of corruption will follow them around. It will be interesting to see the reaction of city fans. Everywhere they go opposition fans will jeer and mock them. They have become pariahs. I'm not sure if id have the stomach for it - knowing that the last ten years had been a waste of time, that all the trophies were morally null and void, that my club was reviled and despised.

Manchester City Found Guilty Of FFP Breaches

I'm struggling to see the basis for the position City are taking. They say they have irrefutable evidence that they are innocent. In which case, why didn't they present it to the commission? Or if they did, it obviously isn't irrefutable. They can harp on as much as they like about whether the rules are right or not, but (a) they are the same rules that every other PL club has to follow and (b) they voted for them.
