It was played at a smaller ground as they have supporter ban for this game apart from kids who got in free. Kids filled up most of stadium that was 3 sides only

That's what they are trying to do but it's really difficult for small nations with limited resources to rebuild after the decline of a golden generation. Countries with populations around the 5m mark like Croatia, Norway, Denmark etc tend to have once in 20-30 year cycles when they have a critical mass of top quality players at the same time. Croatia actually did remarkably well to sustain their team for as long as they did.

Of course it's a dreadful indictment of another similar sized nation, Scotland, that they haven't even managed to put together a genuinely decent team since the late '80's.

Their defense is mainly youngsters, though. I mean, Stanisic, Vuskovic, and Gvardiol are very good players. Just had no midfield in front and played awful.

Always been impressed with Croatia a small nation over achieving and have always liked them despite some results but this was by a million miles the worse Croatia I have ever seen, we were good but blimey they were bad. I hope they sort it out and come back as I think they bring a lot to top level football but reckon they have there work cut out, also think there fans are pretty good noisy and colourful etc,
