The club has no influence on that. The game against Wales is actually very important. If he can play, he will play.

4 games in 11 days is very much like playing in the Premier League.

If Mikkel is not playing Sunday, it's because of a foul that should have been a red.

I wouldn't call it a unnecessary tournament. It's a structured way of playing friendly against teams at your own level. But it's also an important path for some countries in qualifying for the next Worlds or Euros.
I know the club has no influence on that. There are too many demands put on footballers now.Particularly International footballers. The players themselves are complaining & raising the alarm.

If these tournaments have to take place then the way Klopp has handled the German squad is the way forward.

These Mickey Mouse internationals should be consigned to the crocked talent bin. Only Brentford matches have real significance.

Thought we'd managed to get away with any big injuries on this long break but seems I was wrong

They can give friendlies whatever name they want, but they are friendlies.
To have that many in one go is utterly ridiculous

His injury is being described by a few reports as a major ankle injury and some speculation that he's a doubt for the November international break. Although the reports are all saying weeks rather than months if that's anything to take hope from.

Mikkel Damsgaard

They're not and there have been some cracking games. Trying telling Kayode they're a waste of time.

I much prefer this longer break than the two short ones in quick succession we previously had.
There's another international break in a month. They're a necessary evil but I personally hate them. And the amount of injuries all clubs have suffered from, off the back of the world cup suggests it may be a bit too much, too early.

Would you prefer we went back to the old friendlies ?

At least these are proper games that doing well in brings a reward
Also there’s a degree of hypocrisy in us crying about players not being selected, moaning when they don’t make the starting 11, or come on from the bench, and then chucking toys out when they get injured, which could happen in any game or training session.

Mikkel Damsgaard

They aren't , you play for a trophy and to make qualifying for tournaments easier if you do well .
And they by and large avoid the stupid disparities between top nations wasting their time humping yer San Marino’s and yer Luxembourg’s

Yep , i don't think its a coincidence that we play better when playing other A1 sides .

They're also good for player motivation and morale, even if there's an attendant risk. We need players with ambition.

The issue this time around is the attempt to merge the more usual two breaks in the first half of the season into one.

The nations league is like the EFL trophy of international football. Unless it’s actual tournament football it’s pretty boring IMO.

Each to own but i love it , the games have been great , a lot of the groups are very tight .

I don't think it's contradictory. The matches are silly and relatively pointless, but if they are going to have them, we want our players to make us proud.

Mikkel Damsgaard

If we say our squad depths are the best we have had in a long time, we should be able to cope with his loss. There are players that can step into the void, albeit playing a bit differently.

Of course they arent a waste of time for people getting their first caps.
Look at the usual players that pull out of their squads and tell them that they arent friendlies

I only care about Brentford and it sucks he's got injured playing for Denmark
It does but just as likely to have got hurt playing or training for us. During this break he's only played one game more than he would have had their been no break so while it's annoying it happens.

I seriously doubt if he would have been hacked down so deliberately, viciously and maliciously in training!

It is more about the schedule than the competition.

Yes, players can get injured in training, but games are far more intense and it is very early in the season to be asking outfield players (any players) to play four times in 10 days .

We do not know for sure yet about MD, hopefully ok or a minor knock, but he played 254 minutes in seven days across three games and if not injured would have played in a 4th, a couple of days later. That was too much IMO (hindsight is a wonderful thing!) and in Denmark's case, Brian Riemer was very slow to make substitutions, making only one that wasn't for an injury before the 75th minute.
