I suppose wait for news about whether there's a limited service running, as there may be.
I have not read the details of this strike btw... I am travelling up on Friday

I am High Wycombe -Moor Street up Friday morning so that will be ok, but back last faster train on Saturday. Going back via New Street not an option for a very boring reason, so going to hope for the best! If not, extra night in Birmingham it is!

Hold fire, don't worry for now. I'll keep checking the timetable and update here.

I'm on the 09:02 from Marylebone.

Remember new rules mean that you can travel on other trains including Avanti if your train is cancelled.

Latest I can find is the following:

What the strike means for Chiltern services

The full effect of the walkouts is still to be confirmed. A Department for Transport spokesperson said most services were expected to run, and the department said Chiltern expects nearly all of its trains to operate.

So hopefully that’s proved to be the case 👍🏻

Yes, it's quite complicated but from what I can find there is no guard requirement from Marylebone to Banbury.

Guards are required Banbury to Birmingham, managers have been trained as contingency Train Managers, so they will be drafted in.

Is this union agreements? The stock is the same, right? Or are platforms very curvy north of Banbury?

Yes, originally the route only ran from Marylebone to Banbury, the route wasn't popular and it was agreed by the Unions to not have a guard, but when they extended from Banbury to Birmingham they insisted on Guards.

There's a depot in Banbury too, so that probably has something to do with it.

also doesn't affect Cross Country from Reading does it? Apart from potentially disrupted customer jumping on cross country trains if their original trip is cancelled.

You can expect the usual reliable service from Cross Country

Has anyone found any away pub near Villa Park in recent years?

If we could get a pint somewhere, I’d rather we wait for the queues to die down before heading for Aston or Witton station.

Aston Villa (A) Sat 10th Oct, 15:00

Presumably Euston’s not affected?

Aston Villa (A) Sat 10th Oct, 15:00

Train cancellations on Saturday mean that unless you manage to make the 17.05 from Witton to New Street after the game, the next train isn’t until 17.55. Cue long queues for both.

Grab a #can from shop opposite the queue for Witton , walk towards town and get bus or taxi

I think I will leave home around 1:55 pm; that should give me enough time to grab a coffee and get to my seat with several minutes to spare.:D

Just fantastic to see that all trains from Brighton to London on Saturday are diverted via Horsham, adding an extra hour to my journey each way.

A big thank you as always to the ****s running Southern.

It's Via Littlehampton, probably quicker to get the Replacement Bus to Three Bridges.

After the sh*tshow with rail replacement buses that made me arrive at the Bournemouth game 30 mins after kick off, I think I'll give that a miss.

I received this email this morning. I then checked the timetable and there were no trains shown after 17.05 until 17.55.

My fault. It’s the connection at New Street that’s changed. Apologies.

Aston Villa (A) Sat 10th Oct, 15:00

I think he means he has a booking from Witton to Euston and the journey planner didn't show every possible Witton to New Street service, just one for each connecting service.
