Don't understand this list. After 50 games? Sangare? Sangare ahead of Thiago? Did they just draw names out of a hat? A waste of ink by the looks of it.

here’s the link to the full article (gift link that should work for everyone):

think the gist is that before the season began the writers made a list of who they view as the top 50 PL players, and then will update it once a month based on form. obviously subjective though, so don’t disagree with your assessment of its value. just always enjoy when our club is recognized on par with the big 6 from a major publication. and what punditry isn’t ultimately meaningless?

as far as Sangare, my guess is that they expect him to be our best player over the course of the season. and i believe 50 games is just 10 PL games per matchweek X 5 weeks completed, though i agree a strange way to frame it

Big 6? There is only a big 4 now. That is is the biggest take from that article.

But none in the top 40. Waste of bytes

Presumably City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea? With United, Villa, Spurs, Newcastle on the fringes as elite wannabes? They all have big grounds, big fan bases, an international profile and substantial commercial revenue so they at least have the potential to be in the elite group.

But such is the tsunami of TV money in the modern game that well run middleweights like Brighton and Brentford can seriously aspire to challenge at least those wannabes now and then.

Factual, albeit #modernfootball sign we are a big club.

Thanks to a little boost from the interest around the Chelsea win, we now have more X/Twitter followers than the pooper hoopers. Believe we were outnumbered more than 2:1 around the time of promotion, and I'm sure much more so in the early-mid 2010s, but when you're a big club these things are inevitable.

Mind the gap etc.

(Fulham have 849k ... but Rome wasn't built in a day...
Chelsea have 25.5 million...)

There was a moment in the first half today when Barcola was running at our defence and my first thought was 'this is a French world cup star attacking us. What chance do we stand?' And then I remembered that the Brentford defender in his way is the Italy right back. We really do belong in this company.
