They are going to sack him the weekend before we play them, aren’t they?

And they will oversee an improvement, get a long term contract and then start next season terribly. On and on it goes...They will get Giggs in for the rest of the season. Or maybe Nicky Butt
He probably could but their fans would be up in arms... Not a big enough name for the biggest club in the world (TM).I actually think Thomas Frank COULD do a job here.
The fact he is there in any capacity still haunts them (managers that is) i think. For as bad as ManU is, they're not yet bad enough to not complain about the rescue mission attempting to save them.
IMO they'll probably continuously get worse till Fergie croaks it so he no longer (inadvertently) casts a shadow over managerial curse they're under

A bit unfair? Since afaik, Ferguson has never said anything even mildly critical of the club/manager. At least not publicly.Yeah, he should have done what for an example Wenger did when he left Arsenal, where he picked up a role that was sufficiently boring/administrative that no one gave a rats ass of his opinion in regards to the club, and as such went into hiding

Should have got a boat. Much nicerI got a bus from Como to Bellagio 2 years ago. I wonder if it was the same one that Fernandes just threw Carrick under.
The problem is not the manager.
.
I did one way. Timing the other, wanted dinner.Should have got a boat. Much nicer
It should never have been a pen. That seemed quite a harsh penalty for handball against Arsenal. After saving one a few weeks ago, David Rays back to his old tricks of diving out the way of Kane’s spot kick.
Here it is. And if anyone wants to know what failing the ‘no dickheads’ test is, it’s this.

I thought this was a really good advert for football. Honest fight between two quality sides, with a refreshing lack of scheizenhousery. Only slightly dodgy thing I saw was Arteta strutting up the touchline, Mick Jagger style, flashing a fake yellow at the officials. Didn’t see the first half, having said all this.Superb Arsenal equaliser. Patient build up, change of tempo and almost balletic one touch play & finish. So frustrating that they regularly resort to sh*thousery, when they’re so good at football.
....he obviously got the green light tonight from on high.Yep. That's why you were banned from talking to the press last weekend.
Unless you think he was undermining managers etc - and I've not seen any evidence of same - imo it would be remiss of any club owner not to use the wisdom and experience of s.o. like Ferguson in the Boardroom - I mean, the man knows/knew as much about English football generally, and MU specifically, as anyone.True, but neither did he ever make a concerted effort to distance himself from the current minutiae of the club, by staying involved and within reach as Director and Club Ambassador ... the arguable only good thing for the club that Ratcliffe did was finally cut those links.
If SAF had retired to a desert island with no internet he'd still be a reference point for anything that happens at OT. And will be until MU start repeating his success, and/or he dies. I mean, the other day I heard a commentator referring to "Fergie time", at the end of a game which didn't even involve MU!The public idea of what he'd have done, empowered by his constant existence within touching distance, did a lot more harm than anything he could've/might've said or not said in public
Dont think there is any regression, as caretaker imo he was the yes man. The job changes when the buck stops with you as at the start of this season where he has an input into new signings and contract negotiations to extend or sell existing players. He also has European football to deal with that he didnt last season etc etc. The pressure of the job has ramped up a level or 2 from last season, expectations have risen, and he is now expected to make some hard decisions, many of which are not palatable to some. Its a different ball game, where it looks like Carrick is falling short, and will do well to last until the new year. In truth Carrick was not the correct choice, this season or last, he has not changed. Seems to me MU took the easy decision on his appointment.Same as solskjaer. Comes in as caretaker and does a good job. Then gets the job FT on a long contract and regresses back to the mean and gets the sack. Happens all the time with them
