Slightly alternative angle , who are the teams in the conversation to be relegated this season? It looks like an interesting relegation battle this time round with all 3 promoted sides picking up some results and to varying degrees making decent starts.
The unknown factor is obviously Man C and a possible points deduction which could totally change things depending on timing , surely for fairness it has to be done this season but we shall see.
I still have Hull and Coventry as most vulnerable, Hull as they showed yesterday are organised aggressive and work their socks off and that will be enough to make sure they keep picking up points at home but they lack quality across the pitch especially in front of goal and if we hadn’t gifted them one yesterday we win that 1-0 . They will be brave battlers but will go down. Coventry are more exciting going forward but are too open and defensively poor , they’ll pick up some wins at home but it won’t be enough.
Crystal Palace look to be in big trouble Europe is hurting them and the new manager is struggling to get a tune out of a squad that is a lot weaker than the last couple of seasons , they may improve but definitely a candidate.
Sunderland bottom at the moment , again Europe a distraction and injuries are hurting them , more confident they will improve and pull away over time , they looked so good for 45 mins against us it’s hard to see them staying bottom but it may be a slow recovery.
Forest have too much quality and will surely pull clear , fat Greek guy may pull the trigger again but even that’s worked for them before .
Watched Fulham a couple of times on TV and they’ve looked good until it gets to converting chances and they’ve looked a bit lightweight but two ground out 1-0 wins maybe shows the manager compromising on his ideals much as I’d love to see them go down I think they will be just about OK .
If the season had 5 more games to go I’d tip Man Utd , shambolic doesn’t even begin to tell the story and think they will have a Spurs 25/26 type season Carrick is gone surely and turmoil will continue but they’ll escape , fun to watch though.
All in all a season where no one does a Wolves or Luton , a very tight table with lots of teams dropping into and coming out of the bottom places currently 5pts between 6th and 19th so it will be fun to watch .
As for us ? sticking to my pre season spread of 6th to 9th .
