Pre-Match Forest (H) Sat 31/10 3pm (2 Viewers)

Forest (H) Sat 31/10 3pm

Notts Forest have scored a total of 6 goals in 9 competitive games. And 4 of those 6 came away at Liverpool and Villa. If we can't beat these cloggers then we might as well give up.

You're not supposed to say this out loud. :(

They're something like top 3 for xG though so have been underperforming a bit so lets not take it for granted

They're a good side and if they turn up with their shooting boots then it could be a ding dong battle. Forest normally do well at the GTech and their defence is strong.

In fairness they are third in the xG table, so not actually anywhere near as poor as the table suggests they are and it would be just our luck that they suddenly remember how to finish against us…

Have you watched them play this season? They’ve created and missed a lot of chances, they probably should be higher in the table. This won’t be an easy game

Their actual points vs expected points is -7.9. If they had got all the points they "deserve", they'd be 4th or 5th.
Were he at Brentford, suspect Glasner would be supported to keep doing exactly what he's doing. Maybe Forest are also enlightened, but have my doubts.

Lets be honest.
There is one reason why Forest are where they are in the league currently and he cost 50 million.

We thought we'd win last season and turned in a shocker so I am not counting any chickens this time around. Could do with a win as it is 1 win since the opening day of the season.

Janelt comes straight back in for Hickey and then you have a fight between Anthony and Dango for the right wing spot, those should be the only changes from Sunday.

I think KS should be on the bench and Anthony starts. We improved a lot once Anthony came on.

And yet we've only lost once at home since February.

Sadly Feb to May results don't count this season so it's 1 defeat in 4 😉 Not rubber sheeting but we need to start turning 1 into 3 points more regularly if we have European aspirations.

They worry me. They are exactly the type of team we struggle against imo and are way better than their league position suggests.
The reality is every game in this league is incredibly tough, usually the thing that makes the difference is playing anyone but Man City or Arsenal, or form.

We’re 6th at the minute so you’d suggest we’re in good form, but I think we all know deep down it’s been a bit of a struggle at times…. Incredibly for being in pretty average form we’re still in 6th!

Agreed with what you say, this lot are always tough and I hate losing to this species of fan, but if we’re serious this season and KA has the magic touch we hope he does, we win this game.

So whereas the worry is we play a side who choose us as the perfect game to start making changes, we can rest assured that when they do carve them out they’ll Sky it.

Nothing to worry about then

....I suspect many other PL football forums will reflect exactly what you are saying.... topsy turvey this season... unstable.. uncertain.. and with good reason.

I've seen their games. Lots of huff and puff but that's about it. Delap is a cart horse better suited to the Championship and is the main reason for their lack of goals to date. Let's all bear in mind that they've so far lost to or failed to beat a sh*t Ipswich, a sh*t Palace, a sh*t Coventry, a very sh*t Spurs and Leeds twice as well as Arsenal which is fair enough. They played well against Liverpool (they seem to love Anfield) and a sh*t Villa. Their fixtures have been arguably much easier than ours but we've scored 22 goals in almost the same number of games.

We should win, and if it's not a stroll I'll be disappointed. ;)

I’m aware this post is largely tongue-in-cheek but I do think there’ll come a day when Delap surprises a few people. He’s still raw and his ill-fated Chelsea move has clearly been a huge setback in his development, but I reckon there’s a player in there.

I'm with you on this.

These are games we definitely should be winning and go into them expecting to win.

Do we want the mentality of 'Oh we're so grateful to be here, every game in this league is tough, remember where we came from, look how much my obey they spent, etc'?

Or should we be saying 'We are one of the best run teams in the land, we are setting our sights on a European place, we have a far better squad than them and therefore should turn over the fat Greek kebab muncher's playthings.'

I'm firmly in the latter camp. If that makes me 'entitled', then so be it. Of course it will be a tough game, but we should still expect to win. Both statements can be true.

Agree I hate it when I hear this.

Alongside "the bench is so strong" another one of my hates.

He's 23, how long is he going to be raw for?
Some great centre forwards have been late developers – Welbeck, Vardy etc. Just don’t think he should be written off quite yet. Plenty of other fans around the country right now are doing just that with Thiago, and we all know that to be b***ocks.

I don't see a lot between these two evenly matched sides. We have a slight edge simply because we're at home and a narrow hone win is quite likely. But it could easily all go horribly wrong....

Delap has cost £80m in transfer fees since summer 2025. It’s reasonable to expect a fairly instant return at those sums.

One team (us) averages 2.2 goals per game this season, the other (them) averages 0.7 goals per game. In my book that’s a damn site more than a slight edge, before you get to the fact that we’re at home.

Were talking about eight games which is a very small sample size. It appears, looking at their xg, that they've been creating quite a lot of chances but haven't been taking them. But they've got some good players so that might change.

I'm expecting a tough game. A narrow home win or a low scoring draw both look likely outcomes to me.

To be fair it has to be these days. When I first started going all it had to hold was one sub, one manager, a physio, a bucket and a magic sponge...

Forest (H) Sat 31/10 3pm

A lot depends if MGW is fit. They've got some decent players (Murillo always seem to have a blinder against us) but he's the one who links it all together.

As for Delap, well we've written of forwards before (Armstrong for Wolves last season for example) and come a cropper. I remember him having a decent game against us for Ipswich so I'm not going to assume for a second that he can't score against us!
