Can Yarmo play as the 3 game suspension covers PL games?
This isn’t right. The suspension covers all first team matches so he’s suspended tomorrow and against Forest.

Suspensions for accumulating 5, 10, 15 yellow cards etc apply to PL matches only.

Not sure Andrews trust him yet. Didn't involve him at Reading and the other four centre backs are all available so would be surprised.
I think he was still returning from injury then but you're probably right.

Ref tonight is Gavin Ward, an EFL ref, who does occasionally referee as a 4th official in PL matches.

Unusually, as there are no PL refs from within the Greater London area, Ward comes from Surrey, about 30 miles from Brentford, but some 300 miles from Sunderland.

This really is a great opportunity to get back to winning ways and into a major cup quarter final. Sunderland are a good team, but the fixture list isn't kind to them and I wouldn't be surprised if a few behind the scenes at Sunderland wouldn't mind an exit to relieve fixture congestion and work on survival in the Premier League.

I don't want to see a slow start, I feel like we've had a few recently... even in games we haven't lost. I also think we need to find form.

Valdimarsson
Kayode Collins VDB Diouff
Jensen Janelt
Damsgaard
Anthony Thiago Ouattara

There's loads of options for first 11 now tbh but I want to see a strong team and really take advantage of Sunderlands tricky situation. I also don't need to see Wilson start as CF, he's not here to start games. I want to see Thiago start and get into form... we also need to see more of our new LB. Ajer has been our best CB this season but i'd go back to basics with Collins/VDB. I also don't need to see Hickey at RB, Kayode is playing himself into form... let's see that continue (same as Outtara).

I really want us to win this and get home to Fleetwood in the QF.

Happywith above, just Sangare for VJ. I JUST am not sure Janelt starts this one, I think WE will hold him back for Forest game. He is still on 4 yellow cards for a couple more weeks and we really need him Saturday IMHO.

Yellow card tonight would have no impact on his availability at the weekend. Only thing that would is a red card.

I think we should go full strength, many big teams out already, a few more after tonight.. it's a really good opportunity.
I think there's a balance to be struck. "Full strength" means telling the players usually on the bench (Valdimarsson, Wilson) they are not trusted for this sort of game and nor will they be in later rounds - and yet we are an injury away from needing them match sharp and ready for a run of league games.

I expect a rotated but strong side from us, all players we would expect to see in PL games over the season.

I would guess Sunderland could make 10 or 11 changes though.

"Full strength" has to mean a pick from our regular sixteen, not "my favourite player XI".

It depends on the meaning intended by the person saying it! :)

I would take full strength to mean no rotation because it's a cup game, and treat it like a PL game. And I don't think that's likely.

Hakon
Fredrick Schuster Collins Diouf
Hickey Janelt
Ouattara Jensen Anthony
Wilson

Went for Jensen as I would play Damsgaard on Saturday and I'm assuming Fab is injured.

I would not leave out Sangare, Hickey looked lost in midfield on Sunday.

A succinct summary from WhoScored:
  • The Bees have also found the net in each of their last five meetings with Sunderland, including September's 1-1 draw. With both managers likely to rotate, Brentford's greater attacking depth could prove decisive against a Sunderland side struggling for goals.

He could’ve cadged a lift on our plane then….

Unfortunately, there's not a real option to rest Sangarê. Janelt's back from suspension to make the holding pair but I can't see Keith putting Jensen there or risking another out of position player.

Well arrived in Sunderland. Mild and bright. The locals seem friendly but are apprehensive re tonight.. hopefully we play our strongest team.

Love Hickey, but I don't want to watch him playing that role for Brentford ever again 🙂

Unless Thiago is carrying an injury or exhausted, I would start him 100%. When a goal scorer like Thiago is in a rut, all you can do is bear down and work harder. He's doing a lot of the right things, they are just not quite working for him right now. A little bit of patience and opportunity will shake him out of this.

This is a horrible game, maybe one to let him sit then out so it doesn't get worse.

If Igor was bagging them in and full of confidence, then yes.

But I'd much rather the possiblity of Igor going into the Forest game having already scored this week.

Put it this way, you play Igor tonight you increase the possibility of getting a more confident Igor v Forest. You don't, you won't.

At least play him for an hour and then if need be off for Wilson then. I just don't think the answer to overcoming a lack of confidence is less game time

Agree with nearly all your sentiments but personally I'd defo play Ajer as he's been our best defender for months. Thiago is out of form and Wilson is good enough still to start games so I think it's a good time to switch and take the pressure off Igor.

....Regarding IT.....I want him to start tonight...my son doesn't.... for the exact reason as you...my reasoning for starting the big fella is he really needs to find a goal or two from somewhere.... it's what he's both paid to do....and what he enjoys doing.... removing him from his workplace imo arguably increases the 'pressure' and doesn't allow him the opportunity to overcome this hiatus... but as ever we and he will be guided by his gaffer....he makes the call.
