Maybe that’s the problem. He’s been watching a rugby Union match. My apologies, gpete. I suffered a coughing fit at “premiership” and was unable to proceed any further.![]()

Ref gave him a few decisions towards the end, butvin general it's noticeable how little he gets. I wonder if this applies across the epl in general, some sort of edict where benefit of doubt is given to the defenderIt's getting silly now, I wouldn't be surprised if the PGMOL or whatever the f**** they're called now had a meeting at the start of the season and had Thiago as a subject. He literally gets nothing now week after week it cannot be a coincidence.
He said it was the worst he's seen? How can you know which games he's seen and which he hasn't?That's the worst performance since we've been in the Prem?![]()
I didn't say that. Said it was 'perhaps' the worst I've seen in my 50 or so Premiership games I've been lucky enough to see at the GTech. That's the worst performance since we've been in the Prem?![]()
I made it 4 defeats out of 24 in the league, since the last time this fixture was played in January. 15 last season and 9 this season.think that is 4 losses in 22 now since last season which for any side bar the top 2 is excellent.
Thanks. Exactly. Also I suppose I was taking into account the opposition - so I remember a first half against Man City where we barely touched the ball - but that was Man City. So people on here rightly saying that Forest were / are a bit rubbish - in that case, surely the stats do suggest it wasn't a great performance from us! Actually, a digression, but I thought Sunderland were brililant in the first half at the GTech. Seems incredible they are now at the bottom of the Prem.He said it was the worst he's seen? How can you know which games he's seen and which he hasn't?
I think that is fair. I never really felt Forest would score - but we all know it only takes one deflection / lucky bounce / keepr's error and suddenly it loks very different.Stats are just stats they don’t always reflect the feel of the game. We matched a gritty and hard working side (with a number of high priced players) for a very good and well deserved win.
We made far more of our possession and looked more threatening in the final third which was the difference.
A very satisfying win
As I said, I've seen probably half the home games in the last 5 years. Working my way up to a season ticket... I'm sure there have been worse that I fortunately missed. I just found the sloppy passing particularly frustrating yesterday, not something we usually see. Also, have we abandoned short goal kicks and keeping possession since the 'Hickey Incident' at Hull? It's honest of you to put your credentials on the table - but I'm astonished of you think a 2-0 win could be the worst performance you've seen.
Passing could have been better but as some of us have pointed out we were up against tough battling opponents. xG is not a measure of control... And it's very common for a team that's behind to accumulate more xG (I haven't checked back when the most dangerous shots were)
Even just thinking of home games, where we rarely get a real kicking, defeats to Everton and Wolves in 23/24 were miles worse. Even the Palace 2-2 in May was a much more frustrating performance and game, surely.
I watched live on TV and in the second half we were easily the better team.I have not been a fan for long, seen maybe 50 home games as a Member over the last 5 or 6 years,
But that was perhaps the worst performance I’ve seen from the Bees - apart from a couple of gorgeous passes which created the goals.
The comments that ‘we controlled the game’ display rose-tinted perception, I feel. xG was 0.46 against 0.85 for Forest. Our possession (at home to a bottom 3 team) was 42%. We won only 36.8% of tackles! And only 34 ‘successful final third passes’ against 97 by Forest.
My main frustration watching was we were giving the ball away FAR too easily – borne out by another damning stat, only 71% successful pass completion today, the lowest in the Premiership except for 10-man Palace. Our average at home has been 78% before today, and interestingly away games average is almost the same, even with one outlier, Bournemouth which was only 70%.
So it feels like something was off today. I really don’t think it looked like ‘managing the game’.
Delighted for Igor of course and I felt we defended well, didn’t give away too many silly fouls, etc. But I would be amazed if Keith Andrews was sitting there tonight saying to himself, “we had it all under control”. If Forest had any clue how to actually put the ball in the net we might have been in trouble.
Agree with the Sunderland bit they were so good in that first half I'm amazed they are bottom but the league is tight this year only 5 points separate 18th and 7thThanks. Exactly. Maybe it's a different perspective on TV but in the ground for the whole second half until Igor scored I felt they had nearly all the ball attacking the west and it was only a matter of time until they scored, but I accept that I'm probably expecting the worse as a bees fan and a neutral also watching may have felt completely differentI watched live on TV and in the second half we were easily the better team.
I still have to pinch myself watching all our matches live on TV here in South Africa and taking maximum points off Spurs, Chelsea and Forest and have only lost one PL match and it's now November.
I guess fans who weren't watching, or born, when we were in (old) Divisions Three or Four with a squad of sixteen players with only a manager and a trainer have different expectations.
And everyone seems to be forgetting the quality of Jaidens cross!Schades and Janelts balls were equally as impressive before Hickey got it.

Perfectly Summed up my feelings . I gave a real belly roar when the final whistle went. You could see the effort the guys put in. Relatively new fans will not share the old school Brentford affection for such performances - honest, gutsy and brave despite it not yet clicking. 14 points on the board, over a third of the way to the first target. After the trials of the Hull and Sunderland trips the team did not hide it came out fighting to a man.Let's celebrate the win, any win is important but this one felt good. Yes we had some well overdue luck with both goals but let's not be too proud to welcome that against an awkward yet pretty ineffective Forest side. Like others I've been worried about Thiago so I watched him closely yesterday and boy does that guy work hard. Referees treat him appallingly and yet he keeps going, so pleased he got his goal. KA was brave yesterday with the Hickey substitution in midfield, there are many doubters on here but clearly he still believes that this solid all rounder can do a job there and he didn't let us down, his pass for the second was brilliant. My MOTM was KLP, he does so much for the team all over the pitch and when he has the ball things happen in a positive way.
Three vital points going into a really tough away game at inform Brighton sets us up for a proper battle there. A good day yesterday, winning ugly always feels good, especially against that lot.
Probably totally irrational, but I always get anxious with us playing the short goal kicks / out from the back when the sun is in our eyes (so when attacking the West stand in the first half)...We were discussing the short goal kicks and the lack of them. Yes we coincided against Hull but we felt that the higher press from teams over the last 3 or 4 games had been a plan that teams were trying to employ to stop us playing. Stop the flow at the source is much easier than chasing around in the middle of the park ( we did have a few flowing one touch moves yesterday ).
We felt that with NF known to be more interesting that Keith and his team would have been mixing it up, it seemed they did.
Interesting the NF also employed the same tactic against us as we also are very good at applying pressure high up the pitch.
All of which restricted the space on the pitch limiting the chances. Both our goals came from us creating space from longer and very quick balls. Something NF failed to do the whole game.
Very tight, spoilt the sceptical but a well deserved hard fought for 3 points.
COYB
Thats how you score against Forest. They have very good centre backs but they play a high line and don't have much pace at the back. All of which restricted the space on the pitch limiting the chances. I commented on it in another post, not so much the cross, but what preceeded it.And everyone seems to be forgetting the quality of Jaidens cross!
BTW those that are saying 2 deflected goals I’m pretty sure Thiagos was going in it was heading straight for the corner and curling away from the keeper!!

Sels is a good keeper but the pace Thiago got on his shot, even he wasn’t stopping it.

Also, Dango’s ball that the centre back deflected in was going straight to Igor for a tap in.Sels is a good keeper but the pace Thiago got on his shot, even he wasn’t stopping it.

Would've been interesting as Igor may have been called for a foul on Nico Williams. Also, Dango’s ball that the centre back deflected in was going straight to Igor for a tap in.
Agree, they had most of the possession, and felt like the type of games we would have thrown in the final sprint of last season. If we draw the games we used to loose, and win the ones we used to draw, definitely a good trend!Maybe it's a different perspective on TV but in the ground for the whole second half until Igor scored I felt they had nearly all the ball attacking the west and it was only a matter of time until they scored, but I accept that I'm probably expecting the worse as a bees fan and a neutral also watching may have felt completely different
I’ve only seen a couple of replays but the contact on Williams looked minimal. As the goal was given by the referee I’d have been disappointed if VAR got involved.Would've been interesting as Igor may have been called for a foul on Nico Williams.
Well I can think of several worse performances than yesterday without trying too hard.He said it was the worst he's seen? How can you know which games he's seen and which he hasn't?
I think, with some of the negative comments about this game and others this season, we can be at risk of underestimating the quality of opposition. This season’s PL doesn’t have any clueless cannon fodder like say Southampton, Leicester, Burnley in recent seasons. Forest’s only win of the season was away at Villa. Sunderland put 3 past City in a 5-3. Coventry and Hull are no pushovers. Even with teams that haven’t yet clicked under a new coach there’s a lot of quality- those 3-0s against Spurs and Chelsea look even better now.
I suspect Forest will be out of trouble soon unless Marinakis decides he can’t tolerate Glasner’s comments. Their transition probably depends on rediscovering the full unlikeability they had the last few seasons.
Our success and looking up not down relies on pushing on from being hard to beat to being able to win when not playing the champagne football. In that context I liked that our goals were slightly scruffy (great balls from Hickey and Anthony for the second notwithstanding).
It’s interesting how after murmurings on here for years about playing Hickey in CDM Keith is actually doing so. I wonder whether he’ll carry that on when Yarmo returns. But I like how he’s easing Sangare in and has options to do so. As forever we seriously discount the defensive work Jensen does well. It’s still early but I think Keith is adjusting to the challenge and luxury of a large and deep squad. The bench looks so strong and he’s got tactical options we’ve never had even in our last 2 Championship seasons. Not everything is going to work all the time and immediately but the subs just before our second showed what is possible.
I thought Sepp played excellently and there’s a lot of value in not just sitting him on the bench until Schuster has a bad run. Schuster’s looked great but is a young lad in his first English season. Keith also has transformed Ajer from “can’t play in a pair, rubbish in the air for a big man, fragile”. To have got us so solid that Collins is really going to have a fight for minutes is amazing.
I thought Kevin had a great game and was both terrifying running at Forest so all they could do was bring him down and also, he probably has to work on keeping his feet as I suspect refs have him pegged as going down too easily. Giving Dango the game time and trust to play himself out of whatever it was that subdued him earlier in the season is good management looking over 38 games rather than the game by game knee jerk we as fans might have. Similarly, Igor has quietly plugged away while getting nothing from refs. Binning him off for a stint doesn’t get him back to his levels and I can see him doing that very soon.
We’re still nowhere near the final product but I can see the pieces lining up. We’ll see how far we are from how we approach Brighton who are probably the most consistently tough opponent in the whole PL this season and one that goes full on for 90 minutes rather than in explosive bursts of dominance or by bringing on talented stars for moments of magic.

This game was a tough watch but what I enjoyed was Kris Ayer battle with Delap, he was my mom.Great post squire.
It won’t be a game quickly forgotten by my 10 year old grandson. It was his first ever PL game, having previously seen us lose to Plymouth in the cup. In fact the games he has watched on TV he has never seen us win. He couldn’t stop talking about and was completely made up when Thiago scored.Forest played pretty much as expected, which does not make great viewing. We battled all the way through, because we had to, to get anything. In previous years its the type of game we would gave lost, but i think we are smarter and more resilient now against teams like Forest, it was all about the 3 points. Thought we were solid, CBs and Janelt being the stand outs for me. The game will be quickly forgotten but its one you have to win to progress. Would love to see great football every week but it takes 2 to tango.

You're probably correct on this. But Forest could still be hampered by not having a reliable goalscorer i.e. Delap is crap, while Wood is probably past it. Either way, they better hope that nothing happens to Gibbs White (injury? January transfer?)I suspect Forest will be out of trouble soon unless Marinakis decides he can’t tolerate Glasner’s comments.
After one such clearance on Saturday, I mentioned to my mate that it was like "Ivan Toney Mk.II", it being curious that the earlier IT used to make this most valuable contribution, too.The defenders mark well, and more often than not Thiago’s the one to attack the ball and clear it.
It helped that I think it was one of their players who hoofed it down towards him …..Not sure if it’s been mentioned, Kelleher played a blinder when Sels was hoping to take a quick free kick in the Forest penalty box, somehow, the original ball had been hoofed down to our end towards CK and he just let it roll passed him nonchalantly meaning two balls on the pitch, no break away free kick possible.
