I started allowing the GPG to wind me up, got into a war of words with someone which wasn't doing anyone any favours, got a few laughable threatening pms and decided that the www is a strange place.

No more gaskets blown over team choices in the "team for Saturday" that include Woodman after yet another fine Bidwell performance, no more shock at 5 more posts in the Grella thread after Clayton has put in a good display etc etc.

I lost a lot of my Brentford mojo with Scott and haven't got it back yet, I know a fair few feel the same, no thought of going to Colchester etc, booking a holiday in Feb without caring who we were playing, I'm sure it will return one day. I feel that following BFC at the moment is a bit of a going through the motions hobby, it should be more than that.

It's the negativity on this site that has stopped me posting more regularly. I know of many others that have also abstained for the same reasons.

But there were actually posts on here from those who run the site telling him to calm it numerous times. They weren't private. They're here in the public domain for all to see, telling him he's posting at a ridiculous level about the same topic with the same view.

Oh my God. People get into such a tizz. I will get in touch with moribee in due course, he can also get in touch with me via the "Contact Us" facility.

I've never publically discussed the reasons for people having to take a holiday. I've don't believe that that is the right way to go about things. I'd rather keep it a personal dialogue. I've seen other boards have announcements about who has been banned and giving chapter and verse on the reasons why. I doubt any of those posters would want to come back under those circumstances.

To answer a few more points. Annoying Banana is not a reason for getting banned. Taking-over the messageboard with a single-agenda item is a reason for getting banned (see Forum Rules under spamming). In short if you are posting more than one in every (say) 10-20 messages on a thread then perhaps one should use the self-moderation feature. I do try and gently point-out to individuals when this happens, some get the joke and others blindly carry on.

Its a real shame anyone has to be banned but I cant deny that certain repeated posting has been more than irritating recently. For some reason, quite possibly due to the postponed games, there has been a lot of posts that felt very personal towards certain individuals and far more concerningly towards the club. I hope whomever has been banned did get a PM and a chance to calm down but rules are rules and are generally necessary.

For what it's worth I think RoB is a know-it-all bore on the GPG and also when I'm sitting in his vicinity at GP. However, I didn't think he did anything that warranted a ban.

I think it's quite sad that people aren't bothering to post on here any more because every time they dare question the status quo they are shot down in flames with the intention of being made to feel inferior.

Your just going through the menopause. Don't worry you'll come through it and be back to your old self in no time.......... I went through it in the late 80's and even left the country for nearly a decade. I'm now back to my old 'It's Brentford innit' self now. Have faith.......

There have been 4 recently who have been put on 'gardening leave'. Others that don't post anymore do so out of choice but I bet they read it still.

One of the great untruths is that we (the moderators) are constantly banning people. It doesn't matter how many times we say it doesn't happen, the myth remains. I suppose it supports people like Sweepy's view that it's the case but I'm afraid it's not. I challenged Sweepy a few weeks ago to share with everyone how many times I'd banned him / anyone else because he suggested that I might ban him again because of a particular post.

He didn't respond of course (the facts would have been getting in the way of a bad argument) but I would like to point out apart from obvious spammers I can't recall banning anyone in the last couple of years, particularly Sweepy whose posts can usually be comfortably ignored.

im not surprised Mori was banned, his posts were tedious and constantly referring to wars, how animals are better than humans and Terry should be able to say what he liked.I found ROB posts quite interesting although a bit long

Agreed. The thing with ROB is a lot of what happens here happens in dialogue, not just one person ranting to an unresponsive audience. So ROB had long become tiresome, but if kept going because those he digs at kept responding to it. I've started to learn to ignore stuff, especially when those posts are by people I've tangled with previously. It's too easy to keep grudges going indefinitely.

Exactly. I don't understand what is meant by 'trolling' or 'spamming' but ROB responded to people responding and rarely with the same comment. Same point maybe but not the same comment. This is sometimes required on here as some are so quick to jump on the defensive that they don't actually read what has been written. It has actually happened in this thread already. I've seen few (if any) posts from ROB where he's just had post after post of ranting. He normally responds with quotes of those responding to him. He may not 'get it' but I wouldn't consider that any more controversial or breach of c of c than people constantly banging on about ... bringing Ryan Dickson back (for example).
