Every single time I saw him, he'd happily have a chat. Ever since the mid 90's when I first met him. Often it was as I was marching past him. Always had a dry quip, never failed to smile no matter the circumstances. He talked to anyone who was...
Well I'm looking forward to taking my 6 year old daughter for her visit to a game at the Gtech. She's not taken much interest in the first team but she's pretty interested to see the women play. I'm hoping it'll be the start of many more games to...
Thanks. Nice to know that I'm not considered to be a potential problem.
You’ve identified three potential problems: spillage, people taking it too far, and increased traffic to and from seats. I’m not dismissing any of those concerns. I’m...
I find it slightly odd that a discussion about whether adults should be given more choice has turned into a lecture about delayed gratification. I’m not demanding a pint because I’m incapable of waiting for one. I’m questioning why I should have...
That’s assuming anyone who wants the option of having a drink is either young, entitled, or some combination of the two. I’m neither.
For me, it’s simply about treating adults like adults and giving people a choice. As I’ve said in previous...
This is the worst case of someone telling me how to run my life which is a pretty bizarre thing to come up with, frankly.
We're adults and having the choice to have a drink at football is hardly unreasonable considering the number of other...
If you mean that you think Dutch fans are more civilised than us, I disagree immensely. They restrict away fans because of hooliganism issues, bussing them in and out of stadia to train stations.
Yet fans can drink at their seat and it's not an...
I don't agree it's Americanising the game. Plenty of countries allow it. But I understand what you're saying. But that's just a perception you have. The Netherlands can be a great place to watch football and have a drink at your seat. I don't...
You cannot say for certain, and neither can I for that matter, what will happen which is why I am in favour of a pilot scheme.
Having a drink at football is quite normal in some other countries, that means it's not disruptive to other fans. I...
I would trial at a club, not stands. Pick a few clubs around the divisions and observe the behaviour. If there are incidents, it should be up to the club to work out whether they want to implement the idea or not.
I'm in favour of it so long as a pilot scheme is implemented first. They would need to select a handful of clubs throughout the divisions and implement it for a minimum of a month so they can observe what happens after the novelty wears off...
- I disagree slightly. It's not a case of there was once a singing culture and that's gone. It's a case of there was a singing culture, and it's vastly reduced now for the reasons I've stated. Terrace culture, pricing out fans, more local fans...
As much as I find the methods and tone of Chapman's posts fairly nasty, there is an element of truth in what he says.
I have said before that I am not a massive fan of the flags. But, I don't dictate what happens, and clearly a lot of fans like...
The referee kept blowing up for fouls that didn't exist. That's a fact. And didn't help us in the second half at all.
I'd say a draw was a fair result, but I do think the referee was well out of his depth and it affected the game.
I still don't...
Wtf refereeing performance did I just watch? When their player went down, I started laughing it was so bad. And then when I realised the ref gave it, I couldn't stop laughing at the stupidity of the decision. Now I'm just proper fecked off...
There seems to be a question of what is acceptable and unacceptable at football these days, and is related to the Oh West London chant, the recent posts by fan groups, and the recent statement by the club.
I grew up watching football where it...
