Probably a lot more that Toney could have done, if you compare him with Kane, and the fact that Kane’s work rate outside the box was so much better.

He’s only out there for experience or unless there is an injury within the main squad at least 24 hours before the main first match.

Not a hard game to ref but credit where it's due. Tried to keep a a sh*t game going when most out there really didn't want to be there!
Tonight reminds me of 1970 wins v Ecuador 4-0 and Colombia and we lost to Brazil in QF.
Got 12/1 re Brazil this time round. £££££?

Were they the friendly games England played in their warm-ups in 1970? I can't remember. From memory, I think I recall us playing Romania and Czechoslovakia in the group stage along with Brazil. Losing to Brazil 0 - 1 and beating the other two countries by the same scoreline.

Just catching up with this and now very glad that I managed to pre-emptively fall asleep during the buildup! Saved me some time by the sound of it!

Woulda thought we coulda mustered a couple of goals, at least, in a drab coasting performance, against Chris Wood’s New Zealand ;)

Beat Columbia in Bogota 4-0 and then flew to Quito to beat Ecuador 2-0.

On then flying to Mexico, they had another five hour stop over in Bogota when Bobby Moore was arrested for the "stolen" bracelet incident and held for four days.

Thanks for that. I certainly remembered the 1970 WC and our group matches, but don't recall those Bolivia and Ecuador friendlies. And who could forget the Bobby Moore palaver! How ridiculous 🙄
