Exactly. PG and MB are going to have significantly more data than what we see in the public domain plus they’ll have the benefit of the physical scouting we’ve done and the conversations they’ve had with him.

If that all adds up to make him a future BFC player then it’s good enough for me.

I think it’d be a case of horses for courses.
Schade would have the edge aerially and for pace in behind….but as we increasingly found…less and less teams play that high line against us (or anyone) and we could do with a winger better going at&beating their man. Jaidon looks stronger in that regard than Kev.

Agreed. Contact ends in 2028 with no option. Based on how we do business (ie the recent new contracts for KA, Igor and Vitaly), if we were going to offer a new contract (which I assume we would) this would have been done by now.

If there is no news of a new contract by season end, a sale is inevitable as we aren’t going to let Schade head towards 1 year left on his contract.

I believe it has been done and he's not signing it. So one more chance to see him at the Gtech.

Have the people complaining ever seen him play? Genuine question. He was a bright spark in a side that, overall, wasn’t good enough to stay up. He’s a moments player and fights to create those moments. Writing him off due to the team he plays for is exactly what big 6 fans have done to our players ad nauseam. Focus on what he can do on the pitch, otherwise there really isn’t anything to criticize.

I really like him as a potential signing. He gives us what we need; prem experience, more attacking numbers whether Kevin leaves or not, and properly replaces the LW Wissa started as. We can’t get too tied up in resale value. We have money to spend, and qualifying for Europe is worth more than flipping a player for a £20m profit after 4 seasons at the moment. We need someone who can make a difference here and now. What difference will it make for next season if we bring in another Furo-type figure instead? Especially when we already have Donovan and Nunes.

Quite agree. Looking at his history he has never been afforded the opportunity of playing in a quality Premier League side. Indeed it would appear that this will be the first time in his career that his future is settled, and he can concentrate purely on developing his skill set. I doubt he knew where he was at Bournemouth, and then two seasons on loan, plus a relegation with Burnley. He could well be a surprise package.

I very much doubt a 20-30m purchase, or more, which it will be, will be for a bench warmer to replace Reece "never kicks a ball" Nelson. This will be for a potential starter or a future starter.

We all love Kev, his defensive work rate is off the scale and he is the best header of the ball in the club, but his first touch, dribbling and finishing is horrible. I am not buying into all this "we can train him on", he will be 25 years old this year, if he can't do it now he won't suddenly learn. All this pointing to German caps and the two hat tricks doesn't cover up the dozens of games in between where he has missed sitters, mis-controlled through balls and tripped over trying to beat players. Germany have the worst squad in our lifetime and he can't make their squad, let that not be the bar. To be fair, we know he wouldn't have helped the penalty shoot out much.

When he is gone, the new man will drive us insane by refusing to jump for a header, but when he skips past two players and delivered perfect crosses for Thiago to head in we will see the pay off, I don't think you will get both these attributes from many players out there.

I’d guess that £20M would be more realistic but that’s not our (the fans) problem. I doubt it’s much to do with Schade. We’ve spent that sort of money and more on development projects who may-or-may-not contribute in the Premier League, whereas players like this (and Wilson) are going to be well studied in their PL qualities and provide the squad depth within weeks that was the familiar complaint from fans for half of last season.

Yes, he's a bit older than our usual profile, but I think PG sees something good in those numbers to suggest he can be a big player for us in taking the next step.

And if there's one thing we need, it's reinforcements in the forward line. We were stale at times later last season as players got tired. Having someone to share that burden would be huge considering our downturn in form. With Anthony last season, we might have qualified for Europe...

You're right but I suspect the original poster meant "not exotic' rather than "not exciting" in the sense that we are already familiar with him and have a good idea what we would be getting.
