2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

Nothing more to add. I don't want to repeat what I've already said. I hope my gut is wrong on this and this is the last we hear of it.

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

We’re one of the best run clubs in the country, I’d like to think we’ve thought all of this through

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

I just mean an outside entity acquiring commercial gain in return for investment. I believe ROI in itself should be enough.
So this is just a view rather than a breach of the rules then?

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

Am I over-egging it? Maybe... but we don't want a costly legal investigation/points deduction, do we?
To borrow your own phrase, maybe ask yourself if there are enough clever people at BFC involved in all the decision-making around this kit to ensure we don't fall foul of any rules or regulations?

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

My concern:

1. It's the relegation of our club's brand story in favour of an external commercial property.
2. It may break Premiership rules around on-kit sponsorship, Associated Party Transactions (which have to be transparent) and Fair Market Value of services (you can't gain or provide a commercial or competitive advantage by favourably discounting services to external or internal parties).
3. The owner of Kingsman's Intellectual property happens to be an investor in the club. (You can't trade investment for sponsorship and still call it investment (or vice versa) as it affects the FFP calcs. Man City are currently feeling the heat this causes).
4. There's a 4th Kingsman film in the pipeline so its hard as a marketing professional to not see this as part of an upcoming multi-channel campaign. Would Mr Vaughn have suggested it if there wasn't another film coming?

Am I over-egging it? Maybe... but we don't want a costly legal investigation/points deduction, do we?

Ask yourself why the club felt the need to tie this to KIngsman. If they left it as 'London's Saville Row' there would be no danger. So the question my mind is asking is 'Was it in exchange for his investment?'
I do appreciate the explanation, but as you say, you've mentioned all that. It's a massive leap between a kit that is "inspired by" a film and Man City's alleged circumventions... i don't see it. Appreciate you have some knowledge of the area, but yeah, do think you're being very over-cautious on this

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

What is the difference between "an outside investor" and "an inside investor" please?
An outside investor is a very large person who cant spell proper like, while an inside investor is married to Mr Archer

To paraphrase Withnail & I, the best tailoring most Brentford fans have seen is above their appendix. Therefore, a tie in with Brentford Nylons, rather than Saville Row, would have more relevance.
The danger with that is the static produced from 11 elite athletes running around in nylon shirts could short the stadium, and most of west London’s, electricity supply.

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

Ok AB. Me too.

I'm just not into an outside investor's brand influencing a whole kit. I don't know if it was in return for his investment, if BFC paid him a fee to direct it and use his brand under license, or not, but it doesn't look great.

We gotta be careful with the new FFP stuff too, with investment income being scrutinised in case it's actually stealth sponsorship, especially now this math is all linked to how much we can spend on the field.

Hopefully Nity Raj has run the risk assessment.

We don't want to be spending all that 'investment' on Man City's lawyers now do we?
The presentation on SCR from the FD I heard gave me confidence they know what they’re doing on this and aligned with the one I got a couple of months ago from the PL’s SCR compliance lead.

But PL football is in any case one of the things where the very top lawyers are cheap compared to everything else.

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

The absolute truth is it doesn't matter is there's some commercial
We dont know the film's release date yet. The kit doesn't feature the logo, but it would work beautifully if set against some on-pitch LED advertising....

(The launch film and socials however, do. A lot.)
work beautifully when it's just a dull blue kit ? I think you do speak some truth but good on the club if they're finding ways to legally bend the rules. It's a god awful kit and no one ever will talk about this kit from next month onwards. iMO.

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

Think we are over thinking this. Its a very nice away kit

Move on when the very bright hi vis 3rd kit out

The only association to The Kingsman is the stripes, which is very loose as best. It more likely the marketing team had a brainstorming session a few weeks ago on how to promote it and someone made the association. It’s a good little gimmick for the launch and it has worked as we are all talking about it

If the club went into the kit design phase with the concept of The Kingsman in mind as the focus, then we need a new marketing team/kit partner. Obviously this wasn’t the case.

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

Indeed. In the decision making, what came first, the striped shirt or the Kingsman link? Money on it being the shirt after browsing through the Joma catalogue.

I demand More Withnail & I on the GPG!!

I want the finest footballers in history, here and NOW!!

I personally love this kit, well, the shirt. I'd actually have liked to have seen the pinstripes in the shorts as well, but maybe there are rules around short patterns (I don't actually know, just guessing).

The whole Kingsman link, I have zero issue with. It's another opportunity to grow the brand of the club, by tying it into a recognised entity that will likely grow over the years as the next film comes out. Who knows, maybe the football club/Brentford will somehow feature in a couple of scenes.

So far so good on the kit front for me this year, excited to see the third and decide which ones to purchase first!

I don’t think it would look right with stripes on the shorts, very OTT. We’ve not had a dark away kit for some time, and even then it was a rather boring black. It’ll take some getting used to but I think I’ll come to love it.

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

I suspect the third kit will be used far more often for away games and in reality we'll see this shirt only 3-4 times ?
Why do you keep saying this? Last season's official away kit, the brown thing, was obviously doomed as it couldn't be used against red teams, our main clash. But a red and white main and blue alternate should cover most bases. 3rd kit against Palace and Bournemouth?

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

I'm surprised the Premier League might allow a kit design which clearly promotes an active film franchise onto the field of play. Its especially suprising given a 4th film is in production.

Maybe the Prem weren't fully aware, (often only part of the story is conveyed by savvy marketing teams in approval meetings), and I wouldn't be surprised if there's more to come on this, as there are very tight rules about how sponsorship must be confined to official sponsor areas on kit only.

For me, this is not a good decision from the Club. They have 'sold' an official kit design to external product marketing. Kits should be inspired by the club's own history, not by its investors. It somewhat offsets the good work they are doing on kit longevity, etc.

I'm against this and will not be going anywhere near buying any of it.

(I'm a graphic designer. I worked for my client, PUMA, on several national team badges, the African 2012 World Cup kits... back of kit typefaces, as well as the first PUMA Arsenal Kit launch back in 2018. There were very tight UEFA and FIFA rules and all designs had to be vetted by them in multiple rounds of development.)
Honestly, who cares.
Its a football shirt.
You either buy it or you dont.
Its not that deep

Free embroidery if bought this Saturday, no mention on what the embroidery is for though 😂
I expect it'll be similar to what they did for the 100 Years in Red and White exhibition, where they had a few ready made patterns and you could add your initials.

Sorry - didn't know if this was the correct thread, but am assuming that the below training top that Keith is wearing will be available in the shop eventually?

I’m sure this has been asked already but hoping someone who’s already bought either of the new kits can tell me if the sizing is the same as last year?

It’ll be more than 3-4.
Won’t be able to use it against Chelsea, Ipswich, Brighton and Everton. Possibly not against Villa, Newcastle and Coventry. So potentially 12 games plus any cup matches.

Nor Palace and possibly Bournemouth

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

It’s not promoting a film franchise, it’s referencing a film franchise. I can’t believe a single individual will be encouraged to watch a film based on a football shirt reference, even if they get it. On the other hand, those who are into the franchise as entertainment may get the reference in the shirt design and take an interest in some degree to Brentford FC. Describing it as channel marketing is preposterous.
It's more absurd than that. Let's suppose the club sells 10,000 shirts, that's hardly enticing the masses to go and watch a film, especially since it will be Bees fans who will have bought them (most likely because they simply want a Brentford shirt). For it to have that "promotional" effect, it would need large numbers of opposition fans to decide to watch the film, because of the shirt the away team is wearing at their place. Yeah, right!

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

Kids have both and they do look good. Away kit is quite a current type trend of tee shirt

2026/27 Away and 3rd Kits

Were I to buy the away kit, this would be my review on the Club website:

“Got the kit yesterday and was stopped by 4 people between Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre and Chiswick Park station who asked if I was Colin Firth. #ItWorks”

You’re assuming those away fans actually notice it in the first place – oh, Brentford are wearing dark blue… hold my beer.

It does seem curious why we'd have an away shirt we can't use for a lot of our away games

So we need to have a third kit?
To behonest other than wearing mauve shirts with dayglo orange shorts I can't think of a single kit that wouldn't clash with someone.

Clubs will produce a second or third shirt that is somehow ‘neutral’ in colour – plain-ish white/black/dark-blue-with-pinstripes – and/or styling as most kits nowadays are very overdone/garish. This gives the fans the ability to buy a replica shirt that’s generally more wearable (and less likely to induce the “I’m not going out with you wearing that!”) in more everyday situations.

On some fan page on FB . Basically black with red and green trim ( Bit Arsenal ) then the front looked like it’s was splatted with spray paint 😩
Interesting. I was assuming just some yellow and black bee theme thing, from the video above. Well, we only have to wait a day to find out... no leak pictures (aka AI-generated nonsense) on here please, those who find it interesting can search for it on the Internet i guess...

Unlikely to be a dark kit you'd think.
