There is one direct train back to London from Hull after the game, 19:09 - 21:39.
£31.50 at the moment, without railcards.

Unless you want to rush and get the 16:36 ... but you don't want to do that.

Plenty of other options changing at Doncaster, about 3 hours 15 each way.

If you are easily stressed you might want to avoid getting Hull Trains there on Sunday morning even though it is direct.

In one previous experience when a train was cancelled, instead of agreeing that LNER would honour their tickets, they put all the passengers on a hastily arranged coach from Doncaster to Peterborough.... or you could wait 2 hours for the next Hull train.
I appreciate that sort of disruption is unlikely but if you're counting down the hours to a 2pm kick off, booking an LNER train with many other LNER trains running to Doncaster as backup is "safer".

That's why the ORR are inundated with applications for more OA routes, but routing is a big problem.

Bananas that the governement is funding various train operators whereas private companies on other routes are making money hand over fist.

That makes sense from their perspective, but on that occasion there were dozens of people waiting to get from A to B and ticket sharing would have been one way to solve the problem.
it was incredibly frustrating to be told I'd have to wait two hours when there were multiple other trains heading to London. I'd suggest it's a reason to avoid booking Hull Trains over LNER unless you have to.
Someone else told me the other day that train companies don't even pay for their own Delay Repay, it comes from the public purse... so they're not financially punished for their own bad service?

Re: Delay Repay, the train operator pays if it's their fault, eg. Train crew, broken down train. If it's Network Rail / signals / track or another company then it is charged to the government.

I suppose it's possible the government could reduce the subsidy rather than make them ToC pay directly.

Can't see anything for you direct, the first Cross Country train is at 10.01 changing at Sheffield but doesn't get to Hull until 14.15.

If you are able to drive to Birmingham you can get the 9.03 which would get you there at 12.15

Sad, in a way, to say we’ve decided it’s too far to drive, with an early start from deepest Somerset and my son needing to work Mondays. We’ve done many trips to the <your initials here> stadium, plus Boothferry Park before that (one memorable for Bernie Watson and Sarge!). Good luck to those making the effort, though!

Up there for 3 nights….proper holiday destination. nothing will beat the turnout we had there about late 00s though (lost 2-0) and virtually everyone there was a chap in about 300 in the away end….the scenes before and after were legendary
