Nice interview. I think we did ask Fulham about bringing him back but they wanted silly money and it obviously didn’t even get as far as asking him. We did OK with Hogan and Gray after not getting Donaldson either though!

I think he did that the following season and we did too. At the time I was slightly surprised both by his balls in coming back and by the support we gave him when he did. It’s actually quite remarkable and to both our credits. In a weird way he unintentionally probably made himself a bigger figure in our history by missing than if we’d just done it the easy way and gone up that day.

Didn't Coppinger score their breakaway goal straight afterwards? I didn't know they had scored as I had my head in my hands and thought it was the final whistle. I prefer to remember Marcello's goal at Brisbane Road and the opener in the cup against Chelsea.

Just watching the Chelsea game brought back the memory of Trotta again (3 Chelsea players all argued about who should take a penalty, if you missed it!).
