Excessive Queuing to get into the GTech

It's got massively worse this season

No rhyme or reason for it. Last match there was a 30 yard queue to get into the post seats (which included our own jmf) tonight they and the tensile barriers out for Entrance C.

WHY?

Is it this to stop people bringing in bags?

I couldn't work it out but it is HIGHLY SUBOPTIMAL

Had to look up the Word “suboptimal” but I think the queues tonight may have been down to it being the train times and it being a Friday? Or possibly non Brentford fans not knowing how to navigate the turnstiles?

... why would you even consider anyone in any other part of the ground cares about what happens to the privileged.

Mainly down to clueless gate staff where I was. Maybe when we get our next chunk of premier league cash they can get another scanner instead of having someone stand on the gate just being a people doing nothing

The reason is that they have reduced the time you can get in before the game.
Used to be 2.5 hours now 2 hours. Openly told this was done to reduce costs.
There is a good number that are not happy about it. Lots used to be early.
Used to have beer before the game in the ground, now meet outside and go in much later.
It’s a fools saving and one that is clearly being felt in other ways.

It’s worse than Griffin Park for getting in.
Add in the bag searches, no bags over A4 size, no under 14’s etc. It’s all a bit sh*t.

Easy to forget when you win three nil, but…. Things need addressing.

The reduction in opening time from 2 1/2 hours to 2 hours before opening the doors in the South stand along with the bag search is the main culprit. Many Premium Seat Holders aren't happy about it.

All this to save paying staff half an hours wages is penny pinching and along the lines of Sir Jim Ratcliff at Manchester United.

Off on a slight tangent, but I arrived early, for a change (about 6:50). No queue but, instead, I got patted down at the "security checkpoint", outside gate M. Fair enough, but at what point do they no longer "have to do it" (his words)?

And yet there are apparently—so I was told by a steward—people overseeing the bag searchers via CCTV to make sure they’re doing it thoroughly.

West Stand gate M is a issue as they open a fire door and spilt the queue but everyone stands in one line but not all tickets work on the scanners ?

Queuing was always one of those amazing experiences back in the day. I remember the excitement back in the the late 70s early 80s when parking in The Butts was a problem and then on approaching the ground seeing a queue down Braemar Road to The Griffin, a rare event but it meant a big crowd, it was very exciting back in the day.

Continue to live our past in the new place, enjoy the queue, it means success, it also means a turnstile may be jammed but hey ho!

I can't see how people not being allowed in 30 mins earlier has any impact on those trying to get in at the last 30 mins.

In the west stand it's been the same for all 3 games. 30mins to kick off used to be fine and now it takes a lot longer. All I can observe is the machines are slow, people still can't use them smoothly but this year the stewards are not helping people get it right.

Getting in & out of the tube my phone always registers once it gets within a couple of inches of the sensor, never had a problem.
The sensors at the Gtech not only need the phone to be in actual contact but in the 'right place' too - sometimes requiring removal and replacement at a different point/angle.

I’m sure half an hour less at the start isn’t really impacting lines that much. There’s plenty of gates, it’s not a huge number of people. If enough people were going in during that half an hour to then cause massive queues when it was taken away, the club wouldn’t have shortened it as they’d have loads of people in spending money. Clearly they didn’t, so pushed back the hours.

If you’ve done it more than twice you know which way to do it and it works just fine.

The west stand also has a well designed (to confuse) feature where of the 4 gates, 3 operate one way and the 4th operates completely differently

Got in early yesterday - maybe around 20-25 past and no queue in West - phone scanned me in straight away.

When its busy and I am later on my previous games this season - my phone seems to take an age to scan!

Whether thats all in my mind or a tech issue I don' t know :LOL:

That’s got me a few times at gate N.

Top tip: you don’t have to use the gate marked on your ticket. Westies can use gates L M N or P, so pick the one which seems quickest.

Yep same before Sunderland in the West Stand - 50 yard queue snaking back towards the bridge at 2.55. No issues with the turnstiles so a bit odd that it hasn't happened in the previous 5 seasons :confused:

We’ve had occasional long queues previous seasons, especially at F&F matches.

More gates and better, quicker ones too. More readily available physical season tickets. An opt in rather than having to request one.
Stewards that don't treat every fan like it's their first game or they are idiots
Sorry that a collation of grievance over a few seasons

Still better than the Frankfurt game. I had to go to the Box Office and get a paper ticket, as the one on my phone did not work. The one I got for a pal did work though.

Glad I still have the plastic card. Cash at the turnstile and paper tickets were much less hassle.

A lot of the supporters south stand pay a premium. Costs all went up last season which I understand. But this half an hour has caused much more instigation than any cost increase ever will.

What are they saving ? A 100, maybe a 150 staff on £ 20 an hour. So that’s 150 x £ 10 = £ 1500 per game or about £30k a year.
Peanuts with 190 million income. It would be just a shrug of the shoulders and be brushed of as a rounding figure of insignificance.
In other area’s.

They built these faculties for the supporters, let’s be allowed to use them. Will just add the bar in the dugout closed last night with probably 100’s still in the bar enjoying, celebrating the great win. Don’t kill the social aspect of it all.

The turnstile they use at gate P I think it is doesn't help with speeding things up as it's wide enough for a wheelchair but when it's used for regular entry it takes an age to open and then close

Always get mine personally scanned at J. Yesterday tried the machines no go. Back to scanning at pool.

Also why does anyone need to get into a stadium 2 and a half hours before kick off?

We have had our routine for 4+ years. Based on arrival times on different transport, it all just worked. So we have kept it the same but spent a couple of hours elsewhere. Spending our money outside of the club, which is not what they want. Then added to the queue first mentioned in this post.
You pay your money for your choice. I get that but we haven’t changed because of it, the club is missing out on what we spend as a small group and we are far from being alone.

Sure the pubs are happy. Someone posted elsewhere the pub by the river . The one over the sit. The bar was 10 deep and took 20 minutes to get served. How long will people put up with that. Will the pub put on extra staff or will customers look elsewhere.

My train was delayed for that game, so I actually presented at Gate P at 3.02pm. No queue, flew through, in fact up the stairs to the Upper just in time to see Sunderland "score", then laugh when it was ruled out! :sorted:

It doesn't help when people don't understand letters of the alphabet. We go through Gate N and frequently people are being redirected to Gates KLF etc. I feel Justified in saying this.

You can though any gate, as long as you are in the correct stand.

So, stewards aren't aware of this then?
Or, prefer to tell people they need to go to their "correct' gate??
