International break Sept-Oct 2026

Fairly entertaining Welsh win just now. Nusa for Norway looked lively when he came on. Is that the bloke we tried to sign ?

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Dan James doing a good impersonation of James Maddison and getting someone sent off. Jump in front of a defender and fall over.

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Dan James is a one-trick pony; everyone knows that he’s very quick and not a great finisher. The Norwegian’s gave him a one-on-one opportunity and they messed up.

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Your Thursday summary:
Vitaly Janelt - came on in the 88th minute, we want more!
Mkikkel Damsgaard - 85 minutes, 1 goal, 1 assist, 1 twisted ankle, we want less!
Kris Ajer - full game
Caoimhín Kelleher - full game
Jai Nwosu (England U-17s v Venezuela) - first 57 minutes, the only goal in a 1-0 win
Kiefer Gorman (Sweden U-17s/18s? v Uruguay) - came on in the 73rd minute

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Your Friday summary:
Michael Kayode, full match, walked off under his own power despite my concerns
Jannik Schuster - full match and team captain for Austria U21s

Three under-19s playing in Marbella for Northern Ireland and USA - I haven’t found any team info yet, but I did learn that Max Dowman got sent off for England vs USA.

International break Sept-Oct 2026

It's almost over, but we have a big one today - Kim Ji-Soo goes for gold at 11:30.
Then Hákon Valdimarsson at 17:00 and Aaron Hickey at 19:45 in the Nations League.

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Today's action starts with England U-17s v Germany in Duisberg at 11:00 (UK time). Can Jai Nwosu add to his goal tally?

Then the main event in Worthing. Ken alert, Bognor Regis v QPR also at 14:00.

All of our Nations League interest (or worry) starts at 19:45 - Janelt, Ajer, Damsgaard, Kelleher.
I'm not sure which is worse - Damsgaard is deemed fit to play, and we're left biting our nail for 90 minutes, or he's rested and we're biting our nails till Saturday. 😬

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Damsgaard is out of the squad at least for tonight

International break Sept-Oct 2026

The countries who played yesterday have finished their break

Monday and Tuesday to play still

Then its the Countdown to what feels like a new season !!

Even at League One level, they only played 3 matches on Saturday

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Of senior squad outfield players, we've only got Hickey and Schuster playing on Tuesday, and they're both playing in the UK. I should think Kelleher can join the squad later without affecting team preparation for Villa.

So that’s it now, until the Euros next year? Shirley?

glad that many of you share the same contempt for this event. Hopefully we don't have too man injuries.

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Looks like a night off for us tonight. Unless anyone wants to trawl the internet for news of our Norn Iron and (borrowed) USA under 19s. Or spend the evening staring at the Italian bench for signs of movement, pain, self physio or whatever.

Bournemouth are over the moon about this comple and utter waste of games.

I thought UEFA/FIFA were concerned about player burnout!!

Are you joking

The biggest nonsense in this game is that UEFA/FIFA are both the regulator and a competitor for games/money/players.

International break Sept-Oct 2026

As a Brentford season ticket holder I look at the season as a work of fiction that we're all working through only to find some crucial pages have been torn out. I don't like it sir! The players are being asked to play far too many games and we, the loyal supporters are watching games deprived of key personnel reducing the quality of the the entertainment on show. I don't like it sir!

I think every football administrator feels strongly about player welfare and that there are too many games etc, apart from in the competitions they run.

International break Sept-Oct 2026

For what really, really, honestly is the last time (until next time):

Aaron Hickey starts on the bench vs Slovenia
Hákon Valdimarsson starts in Estonia
Jannik Schuster Austria U-21s in Wales, captain 😍, goal 😍, assist
Yunus Emre Konak started for Turkey U21 vs Hungary U21, still on after 60 minutes
Benjamin Fredrick started for Nigeria in a friendly in Russia 🤨 according to the Nigerian Daily Post

Your overall review

Positives

Michael Kayode - welcome to the world stage
Kim Ji-Soo - you are GOLD
Vitaly Janelt - full German international
Kris Ajer, Mikkel Damsgaard - moments of individual glory
Jannik Schuster - Oh Kapitän, mein Kapitän
Jensen, Collins, Van den Berg, Milambo - 3 weeks closer to full health
Igor Thiago - had a nice rest
Brentford Women got some time in the spotlight

Negatives

Mikkel Damsgaard is damaged, repair time unknown (to me)
Dango Ouattara has some dodgy-as-f*** mystery illness
Too many minutes for Ajer
Not enough minutes for Janelt
Club over country, every time - we want real football

International break Sept-Oct 2026

Thank God it's almost over

I offer no evidence. I place myself at the mercy of trial by social media.
Roll on Saturday, time to dust off the match-day routine.
