The British Speedway season is unlikely to start until June 15 at the earliest due to the Coronavirus crisis, say the British Speedway Promoters’ Association.

Used to go to Wimbledon in the mid 1960’s It was a good evening’s entertainment. Especially watching the sidecar races

I used to support The Dons in the 1970's, great times including the away meetings on Epsom coaches.
Also went to the World finals in Poland (crowd of 120,000 for this one!), Sweden and at Wembley of course.

The sport is struggling nowadays and only a dedicated few keep it going.
Once agin, once Sky/BT got involved, it rather fell away at the lower levels.

Others more in the know will be able to answer this, but was there no way to have BCD meetings?

Need crowds to try and make it pay. And also needed a reasonable length of season for income. With it being a summer sport (speedway bikes dont stop sliding in the wet) by the time they will be able to start the season it will be too late.

Shame as its pretty easy to socially distance in most stadiums.

Polands different as they earn much more in sponsorship and they've been able to let crowds in up to 25% capacity (bigger crowds and stadiums there) for a few weeks.

Very disappointing and many clubs will struggle to survive beyond this.

How lucky was the driver who nearly got slammed by 2 different bikes going round the bend! He needs to buy a lottery ticket asap

That was "The Doctor" Valentino Rossi. Nine time world champion aged 41 yrs old. It shook him up a bit but those riders have huge balls. The UK press take little interest in Moto GP unless there is a spectacular crash or fatality.
