I'm guessing but wondering if it's easier to get a UK work permit for someone of his profile if he's had a year playing for a club in the EU.

The journalist Rory Smith has said much the same thing in that a 'Big' club would rather see a 'Small' club gamble on a player at a lower price then jump on once the player has proven themselves in the PL.

Strange one as it's a very reputable source.

There are only a handful of club's in Europe outside the PL who are willing or able to pay €60M for anyone and I don't think Roma are one of them.
